1994 3.8L Belt Tensioner

Dear Forum Dwellers:

Gotta change the water pump on this old mustang.

Can you give me a lesson on loosening up the belt tensioner so I can get the belt off?

I can get a T-50 star wrench where it looks like it is attached to the mounting bracket, but how much brute force do you suggest I use to try to loosen it up.

One of the posts on here said it might be a left handed thread, which would be really good to know before I put a big pry bar on there and put some muscle to it.

Suggestions?

If it's anything like the 5 liter tensioner, just put your torx on a good long breaker bar with a bit of tubing over the end and use it to lift the pulley off the belt.

Maybe this thread will help... This person wanted to reinstall their alternator, but the belt tensioner should be similar.
