CAI modification, why?
Please forgive if this newbee is asking a stupid question.
Just bought my first Mustang (2002 V6 coupe) and am looking to "tweak" it. Not interested in big buck performance, just the mods that will provide the biggest bang for the buck.
Doing research, I keep running across CAI mods. People say how wonderful they are, they can "feel" the added power, changed "sound", etc.
To the untrained eye, it would appear that my vehicle already has a CAI. In fact, it goes into the fender. The filter has been upgraded to a K&N filter - but everything else is stock.
My question to you experts is this: For the $100-300 price tag, are the 3rd party CAI's really any better than what I already have?
In looking at them, they look better. Other than that, they appear to be the exact same setup I have now - with the exception of using "tubes" rather than a plastic molded shell.
They take air from the fendor, just like my stock does.
They have an upgraded filter, just like my stock does.
Other than "tubes", they use all other components of my stock.
Educate me please!
