4.0 sohc and oil change (synthetic blend?)

Hi all,

Just went to change the oil on my 2010 ford ranger (figure its the same motor as the 2010 v6 stang) bought some 5w30 valvoline regular motor oil....went to double check the capacity and it says 5 qt synthetic blend...Now, I plan on using full synthetic at 10k but am wondering if I should just run it from my next oil change??? Did ford go to the synthetic blend b/c of the 5k oil change intervals? I plan on changing mine every 3k no matter which oil I use....
