V6 MPG

What are you guys seeing for MPG on a stock V6 car? Please post year of car also. And only hand calculated numbers please. Everything else is just a guess.

Thinking of buying a V6 Mustang for a daily driver if the milage is good enough.

Thanks in advance...

Check out fueleconomy.gov, they have factory numbers along with user numbers. If I remember correctly, the numbers flamingpony posted are about average. I wouldn't get one as a dd personally. My 96 Cobra gets 20 in town (worst I have gotten is 18, and that was with several passes at the drag strip and a heavy foot). I have gotten up to 27 on the interstate/highway. Not a big mpg difference, and better resale on a V8, plus more parts available.

So I guess I'll pass on the V6 deal for a DD. I was thinking that they get better MPG than that. There was a 99 V6 car here that was $3500 and I thought I might pick it up if the MPG was good. Turns out it isn't, and the car has 160k on it. Better to look for a V8 car I guess.

I have heard one or two people getting 30+, but it isn't common. I looked into a v6 for my g/f, then decided it wasn't worth it cause you could get a v8 with the same mpg, then she decided she didn't want a stang, but anyway.

Bone stock, my 02 v6 5spd would average 26-28mpg. All highway driving with a few mods I would get low 30s (31-32). I'm still getting that mileage with my current mods.

Certainly not looking for another project car. I have one that isn't getting worked on right now. Looking for a Mustang that can be used for a DD and save some fuel.

My 3.8 has gotten 27/27/27/24 on the last 4 tanks of gas. The first three were about half interstate half commute, and the last one was essentially all commute.

When cruising @ 70mph on the highway, the car gets over 30mpg.

Oh, and my car has heads and cam with a good tune and makes ~60whp+ more than a stock 3.8.
