Looks like the DB took a dump. Phil is MIA, and it's the weekend, so there's no telling where Sean and Nick are, so it's going to sit for a while I guess.

While I'm here...

It *is* kind of funny how we always end up back here when CC.com is down, isn't it? Thanks for the refuge, Chris.

Oh, and by the way, for no particular reason:

I like that one...

Yes, yes it does, but CC.com brings back the mammaries.
Doesn't it seem like CC.com always goes down this time of year. Too much bandwidth?

Todays Top 10 topics on cc.com
1. Superbowl... Steelers vs. Seahawks
2. Kama Sutra Tech
3. Katie bar the door, 3fast-3furious is in the works
4. The CC.com "I need a job/I got a job" for you thread
5. Computer Monitoring at work
6. Brokeback moutain you, aggies. (12th man)
7. Owner Builder or DIY general Contractor tech
8. Garage Cabinets
9. The Shield on FX
10. Sexual Harrassment Question

So these guys like football, don't understand sex, don't like car movies, need work often, needs to learn how to stare at a computer for a job, hoping football and not some sick perverted thing with #2 on the list, wants to build a house, but can't install garage cabinets without disscussing it, Great taste in police shows, thinks they are being sexually harrassed and I can only assume it has somthing to do with a concoction of #2, #4, #5, #6. I mean if you squint you would of thought you dropped in on the Lifetime channel forum. I know the sites got good tech and most these guys are texans, but come on girls pull yourselves together.

Please no. C-C is about as safe as possible online for buying. I have had many deals without problems or delays, which can not be said for anywhere else that I have bought parts at.

Off subject, I have tried countless times to sign up over on corner carvers but when ever I do it always tells me that my email address has been baned. Whats up with that? Is it because its a Yahoo email account? I tried my other yahoo account and it said the same thing. I then emailed the admin and I got no word back ever. I want to join corner carvers but I dont know what to do at this point. Someone care to help me out here?

So where should I setup an email account so I can be one there. I have so many road racing questions that I could ask and questions related to setting up my stang.

First of all, if you do manage to get to cc.com you don't want to go around asking basic questions that you can easily find the answers to by doing a simple search.

Second, the term "Stang" is associated with moronic people like Mr. caseypayne69 and unless you want to be categorized that way from a first impression I wouldn't use the term.

Any legitimate non-gratis email account will usually suffice to get registered at cc.com during an open registration period. Having a reference from a member will also go a long way. The thing cc.com likes is having registered users that bring something to the table, other than just questions that have been asked and answered many times. Read the newbie guide and the wiki, lurk until you get a feel for things, then speak when you have something to offer.

Glenn,

I am sorry, I am a Thunderbird SC guy at heart. I have all sorts of names for Mustangs. I honestly dont care if someone calls a Mustang a stang or slowstang, it does not bother me. Things dont bother me very easily and I dont get annoyed very fast. I'll make sure I leave the mustang name calling games on the other boards, just to make you happy

The same cannot be said for corner-carvers.com, and it's better for it, but it's not for everyone. Do what Glenn said and read the wiki, you don't want to be going in there asking basic questions that have either been covered before or can be answered with questions or searches of that site or others.

It appears, on observation, impossible to make a first post that won't get you an initiation beat-in, but I've seen it done plenty of times. When it's done properly, there's no mention that it's the person's virgin voyage, there's no mention of "stang", there's no open-ended "what suspension is best", there's no "how do I make my car handle like a BMW in the twisties" stuff, there's no "what do you think of cross-drilled rotors", there's no "the car is mostly drag raced but I want it lower". Think specifics, think application to some type of corner-carving comepetition or organized on-track event, and think things that haven't been covered already.

It has nothing to do with me, I could care less what name you use in reference to your car, my car or anyone else's car. I just wanted to give you a "heads up" before your go treading into unknown waters. I'm not a founder or moderator on cc.com, but just a casual observer that has something useful to contribute every once in a while.

I understand MFE, I'll just do some reading around and maybe this summer I'll see some of you guys at some NASA or SCCA events in my '93 Mustang GT.

BTW - there are no "closed" registration periods on CC.com any more. New members are led through a gentle, easy, loving, designed with care system that introduces them to the ways of the board and gives them the option of choosing not to participate if they don't think it's the right place for them. If you have an email from one of the "problem" brokers of email addresses such as yahoo, hotmail, or aol, then you're pretty much hosed.
