How wide a tire with front coilovers?

I have 255/40/17 in 17x9 cobras and want to add coilovers to the front. Will it fit or rub? Can't go any smaller with the front tires on the same wheels. Will a MM kit fit?

How bout using a tape measure or ruler.

Most C/O springs have a 2.5" diameter.

You'll be fine. I have 275s on 9" and no worries with the MM kit.

Edit: I do have some mild rubbing of the tires on the front swaybar, though, at full steering lock. Doesn't bother me.

Along with tire width and rim width, backspacing could be an issue.
Not sure who made the R's you have, but you may have to look into the backspacing of your rims. Or like Indy said, measure.

Search function would tell you that you need 8" long coil over springs if you're using real R58 Cobra R wheels or others with similar back spacing.

This has only been asked a million freak'n times!
