04 struts on 91 2.3

hi there, have a 91 mustang 2.3l 5 speed car with

2004 mustang gt struts and shocks
ford c springs
upr caster/camber plates
11 inch brakes 89 spindels

when car hits bump seems to bottom out in front <hard>
took wheel off and things are tight and in place.
have spacer on strut for extra 1 inch travel
any ideas? car drives better than stock

can i also just add a 15 to 1 rack and keep stock pump?

car drop 1/2 inch in the front. my v8 car drop an inch with c springs.
spacers are in the right place. if you don't KNOW answer don't reply.

struts

The struts are still bottoming out! I had the same problem on my wifes car. There just way to long. When I would hit a dip the car felt like it was going to fall apart. Go buy some 87-93 struts it will solve your problem.

Like Jeremy said, you need 87-93 struts. Although the later struts will bolt in, the spindle bracket is lower on the strut tube, resulting in less travel. Fox and later Mustangs are similar, but different.

Had a similar issue with a car I bought. It had SVO koni's on it and they were too long. Even with the spacer you are overcompressing the strut. The struts will be destroyed quickly if they are left on. You will need to use 87-93 struts.

Off topic.

I just watched that video of you autocrossing that station wagon. That has got to be the funniest thing I have seen in a while!! I can only imagine the expressions of everyone else there when you came around the turns in the land barge.

hey thanks for your responses, what the guys with bullit susp doing on foxes.
i am going to put the '04 gt spring in the front(freebie)it will match the rear.

This amazes me because their are tons of people running non fox struts. If you bolt them on straight up with no additional suspension mods I could see a bit of your point. But if you use CC plates and space the upper strut as close to the engine hood as possible it will allow more jounce. Now bilstiens have an internal bump stop, if you are installing the factory bumpstop or eurathane on them your are making more of a problem.

well thats what i tought. o4 struts are 1 inch longer, cc plates gave me 1 inch. now c spring on a 4 cyl 3/8 to 1/2 inch,no bump stops.car does ride well and handles good. when strut is compressed , bang. thinking i could run more spacers and clearance hood or install 04 springs. 04 springs raised car an inch over 4 cyl springs and it was a boat. other concern is strut shaft lenght (internal limit) and premature wear. spending 150.00 for fox struts not a option(budget) paid 150.00 for spring struts shocks and cc plates. thanks

I had the c-springs on my 79 pace car, they were just a plain harsh spring and didn't play well with my fox spec tokico blues. I dumped them and bought a set of H&R Sports used and the car was like two different cars.
