Difference between Victoracers, V700's and V710's

I made this list/chart from tirerack prices. Are these tires really that much different? Price is an issue so im trying to figure out if its worth it to pay the each money for 710's or should i go with the cheeper victos or 700's. Prices are for 4 of each tire and shipping. If it has HC, heatcycling is added into price and SH is shaved added to price. What do you believe is the best deal?

V710's, hands down. In my opinion, the 710's last longer, have a wider tread(even though you listed same width for all brands). I imagine on a 60second autox, you could pick up 2 seconds(coming from a street tire)from the V700's/Victoracer, and with the 710's you could get nearly 3.

Forget the heat cycling...just mount'em on your car, go find you an empty parking lot, do some alternating conservative speed figure "8's". Drive home, take'em off, stack'em up and brush all the debris off them. You'll be good to go in 24hrs.

I tend to think if you have to ask the question, you'd be fine on VictoRacers for the next season. You'll probably learn faster on them anyway, since the extra grip of the 710's can hide a lot of driving mistakes.

But yeah, there is that much of a difference and the 710's wear pretty well, as well as the Victo's or even a tad better for me.

Don't know anyone who really liked the Ecsta V700.

What Tony said for heat cycling goes for shaving unless you are going for that last 0.10 second. I ran Victoracers shaved and unshaved and didn't see much if any difference.

Save your money - when times are good, go for the 710's.

Both Tony and I saw a LOT better wear out of the V710's. I mentioned in the other thread that I got 159 runs on my V710's. They were fast up until the end. I saw a significant performance drop off on my Victoracers around 50 runs, sold them around 70 runs, and the guy that bought them corded them at his second event. I will not buy those tires again.

I'll agree with the V710's and skipping the machine heat cycling.

I heat cycle mine differently than suggested above. I mount them and drive about 20 miles on the highway with street alignment. This brings them up to an even temp without stressing them. In the summer months this usually gets them to around 140 degrees. I try to wait 48 hours but no less than 24 before putting them back on to run.

Do you only heat cycle them once? or before each event?

Also how can i learn what pressure to run them at and how much air to let out after each run?

Do you drive the car on the street on the same tires?

If you have dedicated race rims i would go v710, if you dont go v700 since they are better in the rain . I drive to the track on mine so I got v700,s

You only heat cycle them one time before racing on them, not before each event. There is some good info on why you heat cycle them at the Tire Rack's tech articles. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...currentpage=38

You will have to play around with pressures. Here is another Tire Rack tech article on that. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=58 Some people are having better results with the V710's at lower pressures like down as low as 25 in the rear and 30 in front. A lot depends on track surface and driving style. Learn how far to push your car without loosing traction for the best times and tire performance.

I'm assuming by the size you listed above you are planning to run on 8" wide wheels. If you decided to get Victoracers the 255/40/17 is actually a couple of bucks cheaper than the 245/45 and lwers you gear a little since they are lower profile. Those fit 8" wheels fine. They don't have the V710 in that size.

I would not run any of the comp tires on the street and especially not in the rain. You should plan on dedicated wheels and unless you don't have far to drive to events change them at the event site.

i have a set of dedicated rims for autoX only. I have decided to go with the 710's. thnx for everyones help

EDIT: When i heat cycle them myself what pressure should i run?

I run 30-35. But I like low psi in mine. During some events, I've been known to run 28 front, 24 rear. Sides won't roll, and it just gets more grip. For my driving style at least.

The V710's don't seem to be very sensitive to tire pressures.

You never listed your mods, but if you are stock, you'll want to run higher pressures than these folks have recommended, especially up front.

The suspension mods i have are MM CC Plates, MM Front Coilover Bilstein struts, Bilstein Shocks w/ H&R Super Race springs, H&R 1 inch wheel spacers.

The fronts have Hypercoil Coil Over Springs, 300 lb/in, 10", 2-1/2".
the super race springs are 260-300 lbs/in.

I have a 2000 v6, next im planning on getting some FL PC SFC from MM and Steeda sway bars.
