03-04 cobra bilstein rear shock Q's?

Well, I've been searching around and I still can't quite figure out why I can't use the 03-04 cobra rear shocks with a solid axle car. I plan on doing a rear coilover conversion and they SEEM like they'd be a good candidate.....but why am I wrong? Are the shocks just too harsh for a solid axle? Even with a rear coilover setup?? ANY help would be appreciated!

Lengths and travels are MOST LIKELY different, although I don't know this for sure.
