What size v710's for 17x8's

I just bought a set of 17x8 gt wheels. Next years auto x season will be my second. I used 18's with nitto 555's my first season, and those doubled as everyday tires. What size v710 should i get for me 17x8? Which is better 275/40WR17 or 245/45WR17 ? thnx

The 2004 Fstock Champion Dave Schotz was running 275/40/17 V710s on his Mach1 with 17x8 wheels. He recommends that size to anyone running in 17x8s.

Not long at all on the street. They would also be downright dangerous in the rain. For autocross you can get at least 70 good runs onthem after that performance deteriorates. Even so, you may get 100-120 runs or more on them if you can live with the loss of grip. I usually replace mine from loss of grip instead of treadwear.

I would also recommend using a 245 size in the V710 on any 8 or maybe even 9" wheel. The difference in price is a waste when you don't have enough wheel for the tire.

For the record, Dave Schotz won FS in 2004 using a 275 on a 8" wheel because Kumho did not have a 245 at the time and he had no other size choices in the V710. He couldn't very well use a Hoosier when his sponser was Kumho, now could he? Besides free tires from Kumho is a tough deal to beat.

I ran 245/45/17 V710's on a 17x8's in FS this past season and, though the wear was great, felt like I was giving up something by not running the 275's. To the best of my knowledge, all the top national-level Mustang FSer's ran 275's in '05, even though a 245 was available in the V710 and the Hoosier.

Is Nashville or Knoxville going to do anymore events this year? If so I might have to make a trip up there. If not I will be up there a few times next year with some of the 275 V710s.

If you guys have any Saturday events that would probably be the easiest for me to get to, but I will make it up there once or twice next year either way.
