track bound 83 daily driver

i've been slowly tinkering with what was orignally suppose to be my "daily driver" isn't that always how it goes.
it's an 83 hatch..wait..with t-tops

it has a high hp, carbed motor with the t-5, and 8.8 with 3.55s and the t-lok.
as soon as i got it i threw in some springs from a 95 and cut a coil all around and slapped on some pony wheels with 225 up front and 245s out back.
subframe connectors, a k member brace (MM), and a 1 1/4 front swaybar were next along with the addition of a 4pt roll bar for even more stiffness..
i also have jacking rails and some bars to run between those and the SF connectors as well waiting to go on.

the car has been raced up at loudon International speedway, nh and it was a blast.. the car handled very well through the corners , and with the power on hand was just laying a beating to some of the much more expensive and "pretty" cars as i like to call them (i'm in black and orange primer).

the main problem i have is brakes... need more but do NOT want the 5-lug swap. i've owned sn95s and i've always said someday i want the 4-lug pony's.. well i have them, love them, and have no plans to get rid of them..which i know puts me in a performace hault at some point.

i have some 89calipers with the ss piston upgrade, along with spindles, bigger rotors, and the master cyl to go with it just waiting to go on.
i was thinking some hawk pads, and MM offers a high performace shoe that is suppose to be really good that i was going to throw on as well..
question is.. do i need the 89 master cyl??

the plan down the road is for some better springs and definately some shocks and a bumpsteer kit. with the stock cc plates i have been able to get between a -1 and -1.5 degrees of camber so i havn't upgraded as of yet.

anyone's opinion on the setup and possibly if i am maximizing the current brake setup... i was reading i could swap disks in the rear as well..figured i'd try the HP shoes from MM first..

I think you're on the right track, but no matter what, you're going to be stuck far short as far as total brake capacity goes simply because the rotors are so small and carry so little mass. So I would suggest DOT 4 fluid and adding some cooling ducts, which is not hard to do.

As far as the HP shoes go...I thought about them for a while before going 4-wheel disc, and the thing is, they're expensive. So expensive IMHO that by the time you're done buying them you're well on your way to financing a cheap rear disc upgrade.

I forgot to mention that i'm using a racing fluid that exceeds dot 4

you're probably right about the rear setup..how much does it typically cost to swap to 4lug dish in the rear nowadays??
i forgot what you use the parts off of.

Matt keep on the lookout for any turbocoupe parts cars or beaters. The Reardisc 8.8 is the same as a 93 cobra with the added benefit of lower gears 3.55 in manual cars and 3.73 in automatics. The quad shock mounts are about 2" taller, but it will bolt right in. You can keep the four lug. Baer sells a kit where you can mount the PBR to a 4 lug stock rotor. MM sells some brake upgrades for the 73mm calipers too.

Before we all go spoiled with big brakes the escort endurance series in the 80's which gave saleen his credit were running 73mm caliper and small 4 lug rotors and with drum rears.
