Lets post our race weights!

So its official Ive joined the 25XX lb club and enjoying it rather nicely. Got the car on scales at NJMP last weekend and she was 2643 (with my helmet, gloves, neck collar and most likely half a tank of gas)

This weekend i removed rear factory crash bumper shocks (8.4 lbs), rear stock hatch, hinges, struts (going fiberglass pin/lift off which weighs 7lbs) car still has stock steel hood (skinned) and stock quarter glass, and stock windshield glass. I also removed more steel behind the driver seat that small pocket behind the drivers door, you can shed maybe 4-5lbs there, figured id leave the passenger side alone to offset the driver weight.

So shes high 25XX lbs

Anyway post your race weights and how you obtained them

ps im obsessed with weight reduction.

2876 lbs. Full race gear and 15 gallons of gas in a 2000 mustang.
without me or my gear the car itself weighs about 2680 lbs
55.7% front weight
50.4% left side

might make it into the 2500's by spring time seeing i already removed another 60+ lbs from the car

Pretty impressive for these years! How much of the body is original? I'd be interested to see how you did that.

most of the outer structure of the body is original. actually everything is except the rear quarters have fiberglass "over fenders" on them. and it has a roush front bumper and side skirts. the fronts I widened with steel to flare them out so those are actually heavier than stock lol. The inside of the body panels are fully gutted including the roof.

it has no stock interior panels of any sort or any stock mustang interior part for that matter.

it has a SBC 350 motor with aluminum heads and a Jerico 4 speed for a transmission.

You listed your latest efforts, but that doesn't tell the full story. What other things have you done to get down so low? What weight did you start at?

I haven't weighed my Mustang in about 20 years, and way too much has changed since then to have any idea what it weighs now (basically everything in my signature has happened since it was last weighed).
Car I weighed most recently was my 1st gen CTS-V, which has been the go-to track ride for the past 6 or 7 years. 3898# (without driver) in street trim; would be about 3790# in track trim (rear seat and full-size spare removed).

'89 GT convertible, N/A 357W, MM front susp w/425# coil-overs and Koni D/As, MM TA/PB rear setup (Koni Yellows, 390-430# springs), Stoptech 332mm / 12" Baers, MM 6 point rollbar, Maier 1.5" flared fenders & quarters, 18x9.5" front/18x10.5" rear Enkei RPF-1s (street), 18x10" CCW C-10s (track), etc...

I have lots of into/pics on my instagram account however i will describe a quick breakdown:

2007 bought the 89 GT (stock) so what is that 3400lbs?

2017 (lets go full retard on her) Removed sunroof, and replaced with a piece of sheet metal, Gutted the entire car, 1 kirkey racing seat, Obysessy light weight battery, MM catalog, i skinned the hood and removed 15lbs there, skinned the doors, no windows, no dash, no HVAC,music, ive been removing metal and things here and there, i have a fiberglass hatch on the way, pin off

Im still on iron gt40P heads, and 18x10 heavy SC Saleen wheels, i want to try those RPF1 lightweight wheels, im also going to start trimming more and more wires, till i get the painless harness.

ugh tubular gt40 intake manifold much lighter than those bead box aftermarket intakes,

aluminum UD pulleys that was 3.2lbs right there i think (its all on my IG)

aluminum accessory brackets and manual tensioner, the stock PS pump bracket is heavy, and the stock tensioner is heavy as well.

no e brake, no e brake cable, no smog, no charcoal can,

what else, no door crash bars still on stock glass for windhsield and quarter windows, lexan is coming. im thinking stock fiberglass hood pin off is next as well, hinges then can go, ive keep the windshield wiper motor and arms in the cowl, but im not using the arms/blades on the glass. Ive also removed the stock finned cowl and replaced it with a sheet of aluminum, that stock cowl panel is plastic but its heavy.

um open mufflers, no tailpipes, those tailpipes were 20lbs i think

no rear sway bar, (thats a wash because ill eventually put in MM adjustable bar)

what else.

Full steel '88 coupe, 3165 without driver. That's with iron heads and all the stock accessories including AC compressor. Even had an 18" aluminum spare tire in the trunk.

Can't go much lower, there's a 3000lb weight limit in SCCA CAM-T.

Ecosportage that is really light. I am guessing you don't have a cage. My fox body is pretty slimmed down and I think I could cut another 250lbs out and I would be around 3000lbs with driver and half a tank.

Hopefully cutting all that metal out and no cage your just doing autocross.

That's kinda what I was thinking. Removing all the factory crash provisions and not replacing them with a legitimate cage and then driving on track is asking for problems. One minor slap into a wall and your asking for it.

Wow....some of you guys have really light cars.

I'm sitting at ~3275 w/~7gal fuel load and driver. Full cage, 22gal cell, full factory wiring harness, wipers, lights.

Minimum weight for class is 3150, however I took max allowable HP so my minimum weight is 3255.

Yeah I'm just befuddled how you can get down in the 25xx class. I've removed anything that I can think of, even wiring, and with a roll cage I'm 2811 in a '97 with a cobra block and sohc heads. I was impressed with myself but now not so much.

That's truly impressive. My 97 Cobra is 3250, with T56 and IRS. My AI car is ~3050 with me in it.

Incorrect, 8 point mild steel cage, with added x in the rear, and diagnal in the main hop, going full cage for next season with proper door bars. This is a track car, i do time trials, no more autox.

I was 2811 lbs with me, my helmet, gloves, neck collar, and suit in the car.

I just did a fiberglass hood and hatch (liftoff) no more hood prop, hinges etc more weight gone, the tubular front and rear bumpers dropped some decent weight, those stock shock absorber bumper mounts are very heavy,

kirkey seat, (only seat in the car)

I swapped stock very heavy steel accessory mounts for an alumiunum manual tensioner setup.

MM road racing rear lower control arms are like 6lbs i think, No rear swaybar, however the torque arm and panhard bar add way more weight then not having upper control arms and no rear bar,

sparco steering wheel (much lighter than stock)
coil over springs (much lighter than stock springs)
FRPP aluminum driveshaft ( i think 4 or 6 lbs lighter)
no dashboard (id love to trash cluster but then your Alternator doesnt charge the car)
trimmed up the wiring harness a bit
no tail pipes, pretty much open mufflers in front of rear axle

I just think does this make my car faster? No? remove it

I still have windshield wiper stuff because i want to learn in the wet

14lb odyssessy battery
MM everything
car is gutted
doors are gutted, no windows
that plastic cowl behind your hood is heavy, junk it use a piece of aluminum
i removed sunroof, put a piece of sheet metal (i want to go to aluminum for even lighter)
tubular gt40 intake (upper) is MUCH lighter than a trickflow breadbox

egr delete plate (very thin) is lighter than the EGR plate
no fog lights, no AC,Heat,Emissions, charcoal canister,

Shes going to get lighter, RPF1 wheels, lexan glass (most likely) and ALUMINUM HEADS, not only will she be 50/50 balanced she might even be more rear weighted (which is what i want)

I enjoy low power, very light compared to HELL cat 5 ton car with 707hp
