Hood blanket removal question

The hood blanket is getting really ratty on my 03 mach1 so I'm thinking about taking it off and new ones are not available. I track the car a lot and I am worried about the heat from the motor screwing up the paint on the hood. Do I have anything to worry about?

No, not unless you're turbo'd or something.

They did. But they usually fell apart and get ripped off.

My '88 had one. I pulled it off after it began to disintegrate. Now that I see there are reproductions available, I may put one back on.

But to answer the question. after 10 years or so without it on, the paint is still fine. Of course, I'm not running a turbo or something to cause high heat under the hood.

I remove them from all my cars and pretty much all force fed in some fashion and get pretty hot underhood temps with no issues with paint.
