Question Fox chassis 4 cyl weight

I am not new here, its just been a long time since I have been here. I can't remember what my user name or password is nor do I have that old email anymore etc. So no, this is not my first post.

That being said. Yes, I have searched, and googled. I am looking for a more definitive answer.

What does a (caged) fox chassis stripped 4cyl car weigh on average?

I am thinking about my next car build. A lot of the mountain driver folk like that 80s corrola because it is light weight. I was thinking, well hell, the 80s fox is pretty light weight too, but most are v8 cars. The AE86 (corrola) are just a light weight live axle car- to me nothing special aside weight. You can put in whatever motor you want in a fox. They are kind of swap whores (not as bad as a fiero, but still...). Want to know what the weight would be.

Also, I am trying to figure out the weight of that 2.3 motor. It is a bit ambiguous here.

engine weights

Which engine weight am I looking at for the correct weight to compare for motor swaps?

The car is going to be intended for balance and handling. 300 whp 4 cyl. Yes, I am aware of the sacrilege because v8 options... But for now lets focus on weight please.

Going through this catalog and see how much waaay cheaper it is to build this car than - like, anything...

Any help or even threads (that I can't seem to find) would be great.
Thanks in advance.

I believe that the SCCA DP class allows 4-banger foxbodies to weigh 2300 lbs, so they must be able to get down at least that low. SCCA CP allows 2.3T foxbodies to weigh 2450 iirc. So, low 2000s should be doable if you gut the snot out of it and use AL flywheel, head, driveshaft, light hood, fenders, and decklid, no glass, etc.

And what if we go with a lighter motor/trans than the factory 2.3?

I am still not seeing any more definitive answers.

I wouldn't worry about motor/trans weight savings. The T-5 is very light for a tranny. While the 2.3 is, iirc, just as heavy as a 302, if you throw an AL head on it, it will help. Focus on all the other stuff first, imo, unless you can afford an AL block (if they even make them for 2.3s, I have no idea but assume they do).

As a point of reference a 1986 SVO is 70 lbs lighter in the front than a 1986 GT, despite having front control arms that weigh 5lbs more a piece, 11" versus 10" brake rotors and 73mm versus 60mm calipers. Conservatively, I would estimate that the 2.3l is more than 100lbs lighter than a 302. Remember, the SVO still has the turbo that hasn't been removed yet. With the single exhaust, in the front half of the car at a minimum, there is additional weight savings.
