Side mounting a seat into SN95: Sparco Circuit II

Hi everyone. I recently bought myself a fixed back seat to replace my Sparco recliner. I was under the impression that I would be able to bolt up side mounts to the flat seat base that I've been using in the recliner, however the results were far from optimal. The seat is mounted too high and too close to the steering. This might have been fine if I were very short (5' 4"), however at 5' 10", I find it very uncomfortable and not very safe.

What do you guys use to side mount your seats in the mustangs?

I had this same issue with Corbeau FX1 and solved it a couple of winters ago.

https://forums.corral.net/forums/road...-dd-seats.html

What I ended up finding was that Corbeau offers their seat bracket in what they call low profile. Had to call directly to get the part number. 828L if I recall correctly. Then I used aluminum side mounts from Marrad industries with the 2.5 inch base. Don't know if they even make them anymore.

Cut a sheet of aluminum that fit the width of the sliders and then had to trim the front of the side mounts so they wouldn't jam up on the trans tunnel. Once I was happy and they would slide all the way forward I clamped them and then TIG welded to the aluminum sheet. No way it would fit trying to line up the holes in each bracket.

I'm 6'2" and I sit plenty low. Helmet is about 1/2 inch or more from my convertible top liner when up.

I was ticked off at how high I sat otherwise. BTW I had to grind the bottom seat posts off the FX1's so I could get the seat low enough in the side mounts. I will try and take some pictures tonight.

More Pictures.

Be glad you don't have the color shifting Black to Grey Corbeau fabric. Probably my biggest disappointment in the seats. They have seen less than 30 days of Sunshine outside of the garage.

Hope this helps. You can use the seat belt latch as a reference but you can see the seat bracket is flush with the floor in the front and less than an inch of space in the back for the bolts.

i would get rid of the sliders if you have those. im only 5-7 and i sat too high with my sparcos. i have the side mounts on the lowest setting i can go but the seat is still pitched back. and i ended up getting a removable steering wheel because it was such a pain in the ass getting in and out of the car with the seats.

I don't have sliders installed. I think I might go for a custom mount. At least that will pretty much guarantee that I will be sitting in a comfortable position.
