MM Coil Over Kit ?'s

Okay, I am confused. I see the coil over kit on there now but it does not include the springs. I figure I should get it anyway and order the springs separately. Here is why I am confused. The springs are $63 and the kit's normal price without springs is $259. That gives you a total of $322. The kit that includes the springs is $373.45. Why is it $50 more than the springs and coil over kit bought separately? Does the kit with the springs include anything else additional other than just the springs over the kit without the springs?

Is the COP-2 kit equivalent to the MMCO-2 plus the HYP27512250 spring? If so, why is the package with springs more than if bought them separately? Weird!!! Are the springs that are included in the kit better than the coil over springs on the MM website?

Thanks,
Craig

The MM DOTH today (11/03/2011) includes the Bilstein and Koni front C/O kits, w/o springs ($202 a 20% discount). The springs are priced at $63 each which accounts for the difference.

No, I was adding the original price plus the springs. That only comes to $259 + 63 = $322. The kit with the springs is $373. Why such a difference. With the deal of day it is only $202 + $63 so it is only $265! I just want to know if there is something else that I will need to buy to make it the same as the $373 kit.

Thanks,
Craig

$63 is the price per spring, not for two of them.

Now I feel like a dumbass! I was looking at these so much a couple months ago and I didn't remember there being any kind of discrepancy! Okay, so then it is $328 with two springs. Still a $45 savings. I think I better get it.

Thanks,
Craig

Tell me about it. I was going to wait on suspension stuff until I got more done on the house and got my TKO back together and installed. Well, my control arms that I ordered on the deal of the day Monday just showed up on my doorstep. I better hide them before my wife gets home!!! I also better get this new order placed. LOL!

I'm VERY tempted to wait and see if the kit with the springs pops up in the deal of the day so that I can save another $20... I would like to get this crap on the car before the winter so that I can crank the ride height up a bit to keep the longtubes out of the snow Decisions decisions!

I am tempted as well, but I just don't want to miss out on the $45 savings. I want to get the new suspension on the car for when I have to put a bunch of miles on the car to break in the new clutch and trans before next race season.

Somebody on another forum is keeping track of all of these deals and this is the first time the coil overs have been on sale. I think they said that the DOD's will continue until the new year. I am waiting for the Extreme Duty Adjustable rear control arms. They had all of them but these for 20% off. That would be a big savings!

I may be with you on the extreme duty LCA's too, I got the regular ones a few months ago but the squeaking of the poly bushings is driving me CRAZY!

I have Mega-bite Jr's right now and I hate having to take them off all the time to lube them with the special grease to get them to stop squeaking. I know it will corner better with the MM's but I hope it will still launch as well. I want the adjustability to go along with the coil overs in the front and then I can dial in the ride height right where I want it.

FYI... My spreadsheet of last year's DOTD did not show any coil over kits with springs.

Damn it, when are they going to put the Extreme Duties on the DOD. This is the 2nd time I have seen the Heavy Duty so I don't think the Extremes are going to be part of a DOD. To use the grease zerks, don't you have to buy that $30 tube of the special Prothane grease? Then you would want to have a grease gun designated for that as well. The Extreme Duty arms at least don't need that so it helps a little with the extra cost. Also, my car is primarily drag raced and has well over 400rwhp so MM's website says that I should use the Extreme Duty arms. I guess I'll just have to wait.

Yeah, with 400+rwhp and drag raced, the Extremes would be better.

When looking at the parts that require multiple pieces (e.g., C/O kit w/o springs and the springs by themselves; k-member and related a-arms, etc.) compare the DOTD discount price (% off) together with a non-DOTD piece purchased at the same time and shipped together to the two pieces bought/shipped separately under the DOTD. As you've probably noticed, some discounts are greater than others. But I've found that there is a "base" shipping cost that is generally higher then the incremental increases as parts are added to the order. In many cases, buying the more expensive part at the DOTD price (large % discount) and adding another, cheaper part at the regular price (a smaller discount at DOTD) SAVES in shipping costs for a total price better than two separate DOTD purchases. For example, I did a-arms at DOTD but picked up their aluminum rack bushing kit at the regular price for a small additional shipping cost which was a better "discount" than both at the DOTD price with shipping; also did adjustable LCAs at DOTD and a bumpsteer kit at regular price, and so on.

Yes, I did the same thing with the rack bushings and control arms. If I waited and bought the rack bushings on the DOTD it would of cost more total after shipping. The only reason that I didn't get some stuff together was to just delay when it showed up on my credit card statement. I should have bought my springs when I got the coil over kit, but it will only cost an additional $8.00 to wait a month or so and that will alleviate some of my wife's rage when she see's the credit card bill!

I'm hoping that they put the coil over springs up there at some point so I can snag a set and get this kit on the car before it gets too cold. I'm really excited to see the difference with springs in the right place up front

They never did last year IIRC. They sell Hypercoil springs so I don't see them going on sale.

I am on vacation and missed the control arms, but now I just ordered a damn rollbar! I didn't think I would ever get one! I had to when I could save 20 % though, right? LOL!! It won't go in the car though for quite some time.

Yep, I'll have to change it to got-a-cage. Technically it is actually a 6-point rollbar, not a cage though. I didn't know what I needed when I first broke the 12 second barrier and came up with that username. I probably would have bought one a while ago if they didn't drop the requirement down to 11.50. It will be a while before it goes in. I need to put my TKO together and install it before I add any additional boost. I also want to get the suspension stuff done first.
