MM Non-Adj. LCA?

I know a lot of you run the adjustable LCA's, but does anyone run the non-adjustable LCA's?

I'm wondering if they would be alright for my application since I'm not a hard core autox/road race. I would like to replace the stockers and will do some drag/autox from time to time. The car is mostly a street car.

My car never had and adjustable RLCA on it. It went from stock (springs/LCA) to stock LCA w/ Bilsteins and H&R springs. Then stock LCA with MM coilovers. Now it's MM non adjustable LCA and coilovers. I enjoyed and daily drove the car with all of the transformations the car has been through. None we bad.

Generally speaking, replacing one piece with a stronger piece will accelerate the wear and tear on the next weak link(your probably stock upper control arms/bushing). Just something to note. The uppers take some abuse even in factory trim.

While true, not everyone is interested in rebuilding the whole car, and depending on the car's use, it may not be necessary.

If you want to casually attend an auto x or a test and tune at the dragstrip a few times a year and you haven't stuck a bunch of HP in your car/you don't plan to run super sticky tires, you'll probably be fine. If you plan to beat the you-know-what out of the car, it's probably a good idea to beef up the entire rear suspension/mounting points.

The only thing different about not using the adjustables or going coilover is that you need to change the springs (I guess some people alter them- I don't believe in that unless you really know what you're doing) to change the ride height and you can't corner balance the car.

IMHO, spend the money and get the adjustables. You'll thank me when it comes time to fine-tune your ride height without having to play plug & pray with a variety of "maybe this one will work" springs.

I was unaware that R/R'ing 4 bolts was rebuilding the whole car. I see the uppers wear out A LOT more than lowers.

Just saying where does it end? Lowers, uppers, torque box reinforcements, PHB/Watts Link, 3 link/TA. The 4 link design is a series of problems for handling and all of it's components are suspect.

Just check if the bushings are bad and replace them if necessary. My UCA bushings were in perfect shape when I did the rest of the back of my car, I didn't feel like it was necessary to throw another $150 at a set of UCAs just because (OK, I did also know that a TA was going on within 2 years).

.....and in retrospect, I thought you were starting a- all the stuff in back needs to be replaced- comment in your original post, by re-reading, it does seem you were just talking about the UCAs.

MFE, I'll get the adjustables per your advice.

I know that I'm not hard core like y'all, but I am going to go LCA/PHB/TA after the chasis stuff (SFC/STB/Kmember brace). I do want to get into the twisty scene.

I had a 98 TA with everything but the Kmember/a-arms and springs replaced. I LOVED how it handled and launched. I know the 5.0 will not get to that level, but if I can get close, I'd be happy.

As far as power, right now its just a stock 5.0 5speed with air intake/mac shorty headers/ OR-x /flowmaster catback (which is seriously quieter then my 91 GT with the stock headers/hpipe and flowmaster..................odd). I do have a set of GT40P heads and explorer sitting in the garage, but being on one income with the wife/kido, the plans for the car are going slower than I like.

im running non adjustable XD MM LCA's (going coilovers on all 4) dont need the adjustable arms

reason why im running XD arms with spring perch and swaybar mount is for the versatility, these arms give me the choice to use different stock swaybars, as well as conventional springs if i ever need too, Best part is the XD arms have sperhical rod ends on both sides

(instead of buying the road racing arms where u will have to use MM swaybar and coilovers)

FWIW, I purchsed the MM standard non-adjustables and almost immediately regretted it. Not because they didn't preform as expected (they did and then some), nor because I'm a hard-core racer and need max adjustment, but because of a pratical reason. As most Fox chassis owners know, getting the ride height even on these cars can be a PITA. I've spent a good deal of time working to get the ride height set at least close to even on both sides with conventional springs and the above arms. Two years ago I went C/Os in the front and marveled at the ease of height adjustment. Still, I kept my non-adjustable rears and fought with the height thing too many times. I'm done messing with the non-adjustables.

I bought the car about a year ago when we lived in Texas. Since we moved to vegas, it's basically sat in the driveway with a few days of driving around. Everything looks fine as far as bushings/brake lines/etc.

I do plan on mod'n the car so I was asking for opinions. That's all.
