What class at Solo Nationals?

Greetings fellow coneheads!

I'm looking for opinions for what class to run at Solo Nationals this year. I usually drive my 97 GT in STX. It's got Tokico Illuminas, H&R race springs, MM front bar, Steeda adj rear bar, MM camber plates, MM panhard bar, 245/45/17 Dunlop Star Specs on 8" rims, 13" Cobra front brakes, a TrueTrack, and a completely stock motor. It's not developed to the limit of the rules in any sense of the word. The last event at the Lincoln Airpark I was the only pony car in a field of BMW and WRX's. It was the first time I've finished DFL in class in a long time and it reminded me of that song from Sesame Street: One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong. I know I'm going to get hammered by the big dogs in the class so I was thinking that if I'm going to end up less than mid pack... why not run with the guys who have the best parties and enter in CP! I'm a big old guy and drive a big old car... and I like beer and margaritas.

Thoughts?

Anyone have some old 275 Hoosiers I could use?

Thats a tough one. Without R-comps you are going to be toast in ESP or CP anyway. And even with R-comps you are going to be at a big disadvantage. I'm not really sure of the atmosphere at the National events, but would you be looked at kind of strangely if you ran in a class that allows R-comps and you weren't running them. Who knows, maybe you could beat someone in STX, that would be proving something!

Are you dead set on driving your car? There are several fun well prepped cars with empty seats. ...and also several not quite as fun well prepped cars, too.

With the price deadline looming I pulled the trigger and signed up for STX. There's a 05 Mustang entered as well so it will be interesting to see how my car compares. Out for currently 37 drivers there are only 3.5 of us in domestic cars, my 97 GT, two in the 05 GT, and 1 in an Eagle Talon.
