Best gear ratio

Right now I have 4.10:1 gears.
would a 3.57:1 or 3.55:1 ratio be better for Autocross and Open track?
Here is a copy of my Dyno Sheet I have plenty of Torque down low.

Cheaper than VHT and works great.

Depends. At Zephyr the 4.10's will probably be a good thing. Where does that top you out in 2nd?

not sure haven't gotten to drive it yet having a ignition issue.
Once the car warms up it doesn't want to run.

Your going around 52 at 5500 RPM. I don't really think that the 4.10 will hurt you at the Metaririe course or most small lots for that matter. In fact, the 4.10's will probably help. As far as OT goes, you would top out 4th gear around 112-113 or so. I'm not sure I would change ratio's right now but maybe if the timing was right (reworking the rear axle). That is some nice midrange though IMO.

I don't think running that steep of gear (4.10) is going to make you happy. For autocross, the torque multiplication and lack of "ceiling" in second will be a problem and for open track, you'll wish for much more mph in 4th...3.55 would probably make you happier.

It all depends on the track. Which tracks are you considering running on?

All bleeding stops eventually.

^He did mention autocross and a low 50 mph 2nd gear is not what you want...particularly when you think about throttle management with the torque curve shown in the dyno plot. But, yeah, if the only open track events were on little tiny courses, like Streets of Willow, maybe the steeper gear would be fun.

we have no problem raceway down here with a 1.5 mile course
on straight being the 1/4 mile straight. I was thinking the 3.55's would be an al around better gear for me. At the top of second for an Autocross I would be doing nothing but spinning the tires.

I've heard of guys hitting 150 on the straight in stock c5 Z06. It would suck to be stuck at 110. I agree that the 3.55 would be best although I still don't think that the 4.10 would be horrible for the NO venue. Are you going to the event this weekend?

I'm using 4.10's and find that the smaller/tighter autocross's they're pretty nice(considering I don't have that much HP).

For the larger venue's/race tracks i've ran.....the 4.10s are certainly not optimal. A 3.55 would be a better gear for larger events, at least in my case. However, I like drag racing a street use so i'd probably going to a 3.73, I just have the money to do the swap and I can "manage" with the 4.10's.

With your hp/torque figures, I think you nailed your answer. As already said, with the 4.10's on corner exits, you would be wishing you could reduce the torque multiplication. Although shifting to a higher gear may help, in most cases the 3.55's would be the best scenario, IMHO.

you also have to take account for condition of the track...a rainy wet slippery track...you might want a 3.27 gear ratio...

I have 3.73's and with 300rwhp/rwtq It was PLENTY of gear for zephyr and evo center. Top of 2nd was around 60-62mph.
Now with 470rwhp I think I'll have problems with throttle management lol
but I have a tko 600 coming with a lil taller 2nd

94 gt: trickflow HCI, longtubes, 75mm tbody, 3.73, vortech s trim @ 11psi, 11.1 AFR 16 degrees timing, 470rwhp Tweecer tuned by Wes @ TPS Performance [ Sold ]

Yeha Karma Sucks doesn't it.

I Paid $500 bucks for a tune. They blew the headgasket and didn't tell me.
Suspected blown headgasket took to another shop to check it out. Said they couldn't tell. Attempted to tune it. Melted my head and two pistons..
$4000 dollars later.. My car may be right.

I had 4.10 in my fox, and put 3.55 in. I pretty much just auto cross. Not even that much room here in pittsburgh for long straights, but 4.10's ran out or rpm's. Plus they where a hell ride coming out of corners.
