Question Diff. Bushing Question?

I'm replacing the upper diff. bushings in my rear end and just wondering how far do I press in the new ones?

Thanks.

measure how far the stockers are pushed in and reinstall to that depth
if i could remember how far mine were pushed in, i'd tell you...

Don't want to do that since they were in two different amounts

You buy the Maximum Motorsports tool that puts them in the right location.

My copy of Mustang Performance Handbook 2 shows the distance between the bushing shell and the diff ear to be 0.300".

I have the MM tool but it's not the original bolt so I'm not sure if it would end up in the same place.

.3", that's from the lip on the shell to the ear right? Others have said I should just center it in the housing.

0.300" is the gap between the inside edge of the bushing shell to the inside edge of the diff ear. When I still had the stock uppers, I just beat new bushings in place with a piece of pipe and a hammer.

I did, however, lubricate the outside of the shells with some anti-sieze to make the job a little easier.

Ford specs call for the bushing to be installed so that the bushing lip is 36mm from the back of the cast iron ring.

Driven by an amazingly untalented person, this rolling pile of rust has managed to continually drain a bank account, all the while never actually getting the driver from point A to point B.

Please help
