My Pro-M EFI Story

I just wanted to start a thread to log some of my progress with the Pro-M EFI install. A little history on the car....94 Cobra with a new fordstrokers 363, V1 S-Trim, 75 lb injectors from Pro-M and 92mm Pro-M mass air. I did a full Glenn's fuel system with the single in tank Walbro 450 along with the motor and EFI. Big shout out to Michael Plummer for helping me initially with some of my questions/concerns and all of his videos. I was sold on the Pro-M for a few reasons but the main ones being the integrated WB's and the new harness. The harness is absolutely beautiful and was relatively straight forward to install. Being a brand new motor I was a little hesitant but it started right up. I set all the basics initially and had a high idle so I emailed Chris. I emailed him on a Saturday night and I had a response by 6:00 the next morning. I'm still buttoning up some things on the car but I've been using the Variables feature for live viewing of data and the scope feature for logging some basic values. The software is very intuitive and easy to use. I haven't had it on the road but it idles like a stock motor, very impressed so far.

I'll update this once I get it on the road, hopefully within the next two weeks.

Dave

Nice, can't wait to hear more about it. I'm installing the Pro-M system on my 95 Mustang within the next month or so.

Well, I took it out for the maiden voyage over the weekend and I will say it exceeded my expectations. Doing the motor, fuel system and EFI all at once was a lot but the driveability is amazing. I didn't change much from Chris's initial tune and you would never know it has 75 lb injectors. It starts and idles like it came from the factory. That being said it was short lived because after the drive I shut it off to wash it but when I started it back up to pull it in the garage the starter would stay engaged even with the key out. Nothing Pro-M related and if my handy dandy Hayne's manual is accurate it's just a bad ignition switch. More to come, I'll post a couple quick videos soon.

I’m amazed at all of the positive stories I’ve read and lack of drama with this system
Just pulled the trigger on it few weeks ago. Put it on layaway because my moter is in machine shop for balancing of rotating Assy and my v3 si has still not been delivered yet 😐
All I paid cash for up front (lesson learned)
Hope you got the starter situation sorted out. My guess is either ign switch not coming back to run position allowing starter to stay engaged or remote solonoid contacts sticking.

I feel the same way. I have a Holley HP I bought (bought 2nd hand but is still new/never installed or used) but I am really considering selling it and going with the PRO-M system.
I think the PRO-M will be perfect for my setup.

The new harness was part of my decision and it's a thing of beauty. My car has 85k original miles and probably 25k over the last 18 years. For the most part it has been a weekend toy. I was amazed what a mess the harness was when I pulled it out. That being said the startup and initial configuration was simple. Once I set the idle and timing it started like a new car. I changed small things like idle RPM's and fan temps but I didn't touch the tune at all. If I didn't want to keep it under 4000 for a bit for the break in I have no doubt it would've ripped to red line with zero issues. The software is a breeze to navigate and the variables feature is really nice....you can drag any sensor you want to the list and monitor it real time and it records min and max. I have no tuning experience and I loathe the idea of paying someone to beat my car on a dyno just because I changed the intake. So far I am completely smitten but I also have nothing to compare it to. No kidding, I went from an Autologic chip that was burned back in probably 2005:-)

Also, support from Chris is fantastic. This thing has sat for more than 4 years so I've never considered anything even close to an emergency so I just email him. He has always responded in less than 24 hours, even on weekends. He has even called me a couple times to explain something or just reinforce the fact that I don't have to change anything. As an engineer I like to tinker.

Just to backup your comments about Richard, I sent him an email asking how I could evaluate the software. You could download it, but without a base tune you could not navigate the software.
I emailed via the website and quickly received a call personally from Chris telling me to check my email for the base tune. He then stepped me through getting it working.

And I agree, a new harness is part of my decision (and how I ended up with the HP I have now).

Awesome work. I hate paying someone else to "tune" my car. I change parts on it like a change clothes. I just changed the cam in my car. Did I have to get it retuned? Kcuf no.

Love the Pro-M stuff. I have their ECU, harness, injectors, and MAF. Only thing Iíve opted to change was the widebands.

What widebands did you end up going with?

Interesting, I did not realize those were compatible with the Pro-M system.

You can use them but you have to upload they're values. I'm unsure about how to do it and talked with Chris Richards about it. Ultimately he convinced me to keep the Innovate controllers.
