nitrous modifications

so i messed around and bought 2 kits and controllers from a friend.. now i'm installing them on the motor and freshening it up also..

kit #1 is a big shot fogger kit plumbed into the intake, kit #2 is the same except plumbed into the intake a little further up streamand offset... it's a custom sheet metal intake with a single 1150 dominator on top.. i plan on hitting 300-400 for first kit and 400-500 for the second.

i know i'll have to change the cam to something nitrous friendly and probably the pistons.. they are icon's and have a .350 dome on them now... i figured they would work but everyone is telling me NOOO ...

before i ran this car launching at 5500 rpms and shifting the gilde at 7500 with a 5.13 gear in the back with 33 inch tall tires... that was all motor.. i think i should change gears to keep the rpms down, so what should i go with.. i'd like to trap in the 150-160 range on both kits in the 1/8.. so anyone out there made the swap to nitrous before?? advice?

Try this formula:
Tire diameter X RPM (336 X mph) = gear ratio
Example: 33" tire X 7,000 rpm =231,000
336 X 160 mph = 53,760
231,000 divided by 53,760 = 4.2968
So use a 4.29 gear

160 in 1/8 is territory of customer nitrous tuners and flow testing for the kits. It will most likely save you money and do more with less...and less headache. The list is long but includes Steve Johnson, Monte Smith, Kevin Neal etc.

lol i did..... i'm pretty well educated myself in a lot of this stuff... and got a few connections.... HOWEVER there will probably still be carnage pics... unfortunately i know how demanding this level of competition is ... one of my buds just stocked up on 4 alum based brodix longblocks and 2 blowers in an attempt to make all 10 weeks of filming for a little tv show most of you here have probably watched or heard of at one point...

so i'm just saying i'm a po mo fo.... i only have 2 motors and looking to get a primary 600+ cubic inch block when i do this... the 500+ motor will be backup and the backup which is also 500+ is probably only capable of 1200 hp before it blows... since it's still in a mark 4 block

OK then....but I still have no idea who you are...might have something to do with not following all that, whatever "that" is. But anyway, good for you and good luck doing whatever it is that you are going to do.

but for what its worth... id spray it all in 1 kit. no need to do 2 kits. put it all in 1 kit and bank the system .1 and use the progressive to bring it in smooth...

brad barrett.. lol driver of the infamous timebomb! lol

anyway.. humm one big system and a progressive... not something that everyone else is doing thats for sure.. everyone else seems to leave off the progressive in stage 1 and bring in more kits.. most have 4 kits on the car using 2-3...

def something to think about... but is that the best decision for the street? the roads we will be on are sketchy at best.. got a buddy that is pulling 1000 hp out of his blower car just to make it work on some of these junk roads..

you might want to look at the direction X275 and those classes are going... most guys have stepped down to a single kit. a small block and even most big blocks (not talking 5" plus motors) cant use all the nitrous you can spray in 1 kit anyway...

also something to look at is a controller that can bring the fuel on at a different rate than the nitrous.

bring the right bank on at the hit at 25% with 45% fuel for .1 then bring the other side on at 25/45 then for .25 then 35/55 for .25 then 50/60 for .25 then 75/75 for .25 then 100

just throwing out numbers for an example
