Hey guys, i just got my car running this weekend and am having trouble with the car getting hot and staying there. I know alot of you all have T6 setups with the crossover and downpipe very tight to the radiator hoses and water pump as is mine. My crossover is wrapped but havent wrapped the DP yet. What kind of temps are you seeing? Before w/ the BG CUSTOM TURBO kit and the 302, i never had a problem. Ran the same fan and radiator that im still using. Main diff is all the exhaust and a much bigger intercooler than i had previously.

i have a AFCO radiator, 160* Tstat, w/ 14 or 16" fan (cant remember) that I have on a switch, running straight water, standard rotation standard volume water pump. I ran the fan the whole time today and still got hot. I dont have a water temp gauge  just the stocky and it got up to the "o" in NORMAL which i assume is pretty damn hot. Intercooler is a 31x12x4 which i know alot of setups on here are running. I ran the car with the cap off and waited to the tstat opened and water was flowing through the radiator and topped it off so i assume there arent any air pockets. Ive got this posted on TTF.com too.

Any suggestions??

thanks for your help

it starts while sitting at a light or a stop sign waiting on traffic. But once i get to moving, the temps arent coming down, they will actually start to creep up a little. Im gonna wrap the dp today and possibly wrap the radiator hoses too unless thats a bad thing lol

im gonna pm the guy on here with the ram, taurus, and MKVIII fans and see if one of them may fit b/w the rad and the dp

thanks

It wouldn't be a bad idea to wrap the radiator hoses as well as the DP. They sell a heat reflective tape at Summit. I've used it on several things in my engine bay on its own, and in conjunction with other types of heat protection.

not to highjack the tread but i was wondering what year taurus fan do you guys use?

well, tried to drive it around some more today and it just aint gonna work. Im gonna order a bigger fan and wrap everything. I still wonder though if there is an underlying problem with my water pump or thermostat but not likely. It does give off a LOT of heat.

Turbo is definately big. Im curious as to what exactly you think is unsafe about it?

thanks for all the input, hopefully i can get it squared away.

ah, gotcha! :)

so far, ive tried to be good and just drive it nice and easy. But, i did spin it up to 3-4psi after i let it sit for a while and cool down and it is hell on these crappy 295/50 street tires it has been sitting on while i put it together (wanted to get sideways in 3rd when boost onset :D) i cant wait to see what is does at 12-13psi

thanks again
Brian
