I had better pedal feel with my stock brake setup up front.
Did the Pro Street setup up front with the vented rotors (not the drag setup) and the pedal damn near goes to the floor... just doesn't seem to have the stopping power I think it should have... am I missing something??? Do I need to upgrade my master cylinder because of the 4 piston calipers??? I have anywhere from 10-14" of vacuum and the pedal still feels like trash. My sphincter is in full pucker mode trying to slow down from a low 10 second pass at the track.
It will require you to change the mounting point on the pedal. I believe an inch or so you have to drill a hole. You need to change the ratio. I'm not sure off hand what it changes to...for some reason 6:1 or 7:1...is what I am thinking of.
Oops, I forgot, I am running power brakes and want to keep it that way. I know there must be plenty of guys out there running power brakes with the Aerospace stuff...
Maybe with the stock master in there you aren't getting enpugh fluid. A bigger bore size on the master should help. I would think Aerospace has a master to use with power brakes as well.
If this is mainly a track car I would go with manual brakes.
I switched to a 93 cobra m/c when I swapped to wilwood front and rear disk drag brakes. My pedal is like a rock...stays nice and solid when braking. You can also use a 95+ v6 or gt m/c also I believe. Do a search on disk brake master cylinders on here...you'll find all the info you need.
I am still rear drum, but will probably go to rear disc over the winter... that might be the time to do the Cobra m/c since I'd need to upgrade from the stock m/c anyway, right???
Do the cobra MC, you'll be fine! When I did the 73mm caliper upgrade on my 92 the brakes felt like crap...then I did the cobra MC and the brakes feel awesome!
Stock power with the aerospace and drums on mine. I just changed the pads this summer. Been on there since '01. New pads were hard and not doing much until I did some stops with it. They improved much more after stopping from over 140 at the track. My pedal never goes to the floor. Did you try bleeding the system? Also try pumping the brakes on a stop. Mine seem to be better after I hit the brakes let up and hit them again.
