Loooking at gettin the HP Stage 1 kit for my stock 92LX. Does anyone have any video footage, would like to hear if the spool up is loud? I want a loud kit, love the sound!!!

What do you Turbo guys think of the HP kit?

Are their better cheaper kits?

What a difference a few days make! I spent the last few days reading about the Quicktime kits! I'm excited they offer such a quality kit for $3k. And only a few days ago I'd never heard of them. HP im sure is a good kit but how can you justify spending $2k more?

Im running the Quicktime kit on my 88 hatch and could not be happier with it. The turbo sounds great, but i am running an open air wastegate so u cant hear the turbo once it opens up.

I don't have a video but my HP kit is pretty loud. I have scared other drivers with it before. My wife and I had to get used to the sound when we first put it on. It also freaked out one of the places we dynoed, everytime it would spool he would get out of it and I asked him what he was doing and he said ,man I gotta get used to the sound of this it's freaking me out.

I love my HP Stg II kit... great quality and performance!

I've gone 10.06 @ 138.6 mph with the T66 @ 17psi, 347 and TH400 trans on ET Streets.

Last weekend my passenger side header cracked and my Jet Hot coating continues to flake off. HP Performance has the worst customer service on the planet. I had to threaten to call the Better Business Bureau just to get my kit 6 months after I ordered it.

Not impressed with the quality or design of the kit. I've spent well over 100 hrs after installing my turbo kit fixing the problems that are a result of installing it (frame rail interference, stuff melting, etc.)

HP Performance makes me never want to run a turbo ever again.

However, because of the power I make with a turbo, I would totally do it again, just with a different kit like Quicktime or B&G.

Dam bikewiz you have had some bad luck with HP. I feel bad because I am one of the people that told you I like there kit and that you should go with one. I have had mine for 3 plus years now and have not had one problem with it.

Good luck with it, hope things turn around for you.

Blackfive0 I wonder if because our kits are older that is why we haven't had any problems? Ive had mine on the car for 4 years. I'm gonna have alot of people upset with me cause I have spoke to alot of folks about the HP kit, shoot with all the press I have given them they ought to give me a free kit. The only thing I wonder about with other companies is will their kit make the #'s the HP kit makes, I think it all comes down to the hybrid thing. Gotta admit the HP seems to really put out the power.

Trbofox you could be right. The older kits could be better then the new ones.

HP should at least give you an upgraded turbo so you can put down some more power you should be close to maxed out, mine stoped at 545HP.

By the way that is one sweet ride.

Thanks. How many lbs. of boost do you feel you were maxed out at? My numbers were made with my old head and intake combo of GT40 heads and Cobra intake, I believe with the Hogan and Trick-Flow set up it has gained more, just starting to feel some streetability issues. Gonna try one of these new PTI timing lock boxes. I need to get to the dyno and see where I'm at. Yea I think I'm gonna press HP on the issue, I noticed they were very quick to post the mag.. coverage on their website. I've talked to so many people that say, yea your car is why I went HP. When are you in full boost with the bigger turbo? I'm in early right now, I wouldn't want to sacrifice that.

hey guys, here's a video of mine from this past weekend, sorry the quality sucks, that's how internet land works, if you want to watch it now, it's gotta be blurry. This is my stage 1 hp kit. 7psi on 13* timing... on the last run however i decided to give my broken boost controller one last chance to work right... lol it as you can see chose to give me the shaft. i'm not sure what my boost spiked to on that run, but damn it felt great LOL.

I'm happy to have that kind of issue cause it means I'm probably over 550rwhp and a real scarry torque #, and my issue is minor nothing that would prevent me from driving 5 or 6 hours to an event. It's to bad you did not have sucess with yours, but after 4 years and over 25K miles on the kit I'm not complaining. My piping still looks amazing

I got my HP kit in '03 or '04 I can't remember. It took about a month to receive, the instructions sucked ass, I went through a few 5.0 motors getting things sorted out(my lack of turbo experience had a lot to do with this, there was to much that they expected you to know that I did not). But, I have had no durability or quality issues other than some discoloring of my ceramic coating.

Fast forward to this year. I am putting a 351 motor together and I ordered the 351 specific parts(cross over pipe and passenger manifold) to add to my 302 kit. They said it would take three weeks, it ended up taking five months. I am a big fan of their product, but I have to agree with what was said before about the customer service.

I just ran a 9.81 @ 139.4 mph at Buick vs. Ford Shootout in Noble, OK this weekend with my HP Per Stg II T66 and stock untuned A9L w/ 42 lb injectors. HP's are wonderful kits!

That's awesome. Think it has somthing to do with the hybrid?

I'm not sure, I don't know much about this turbo, to be honest. I'm sure it's on the verge of being maxed out, but I'd like to see how far into the 9's I can take it. I have a few more things I can fix and hopefully I'll be able to go for max boost and try to run some mid-9's at least before the season is over.
