I had almost no room, but I ran a 90* silicone 4"-3.5" into the fender and put a filter on the end. Might be costing me some power going down in size (especially since its a stock k&n)
I have wondered what would happen if you just got a k&n type filter, cut it up and v-band it over the inlet. Just so you would have the red cotton material and the mesh net. :idunno: You could put a stronger mesh behind it so it does not suck that in. I think somebody on turbomustangs.com sells a mesh piece.
Get a K&N catalog or check out their site. they have a filter to fit just about everything. I found one to fit my 76 with a offset to fit my turbo without touching anything.
