Foxbody oldtimer sticking one toe in the water

Old-school cast iron V-8 guy from Connecticut here.

Haven't been driving my '87 LX 5.0 hatch much lately. Tired of rowing, mostly.

I really like the look of the SN197s, though. So I picked up a rough '08 V-6 with an eye towards shining it up a bit and seeing if it might make a nice weekend tourer. Lots of work to do though, so here I am.

See you guys around the breaks!

Fair enough. Once they're fluffed and buffed, I'll be sure to do that!

The 3.8 is a good engine , with most of the head gasket flaws worked out since its conception .
There are perfornce upgrades that can be done to it , available on the aftermarket.

Yep, I owned a Taurus with the Essex 3.8, and the PO had shown me proof that the copper head gasket updgrade had been performed by Ford. Never had a single problem with that engine.

Pretty sure the '08 has the 4.0 liter OHV Cologne engine, though.
