1984 Mustang - 5.0L Project Race Car

1984 Mustang - 5.0L Project Race Car

Engine: 1991 5.0L HO V8
Trans: C4 Automatic

Dumped exhaust with free flowing mufflers.
Edelbrock RPM Intake Manifold
Edelbrock 600cfm Performance 4bbl Carburetor (tuned) w/K&N filter
Locked-out distributor with brand new cap & rotor. (tuned)
MSD 6AL Ignition Box.
Black Magic fan with fan temp controller for automatic on/off.
Autometer Tach gauge, autometer water temp, voltmeter, and oil pressure gauges.
Powermaster 100amp performance alternator.
Battery relocation to truck.

Extras: New belt, new alternator, new battery, new sparkplugs, new wires, some new suspension (rides perfect), all fluids refreshed.

I am advertising this car as a racing project, however I do have almost all of the interior pieces that will go with the car. Before most of these mods and without the tuning session, the car ran a 14.5 @ 95 running out of fuel half way down the track. The car is expected to be well into the 13's as it sits now.

This setup is tuned extremely well. The timing is locked out and sits at a very aggressive level, when you stomp the pedal you feel power immediately at any RPM. You can see in the videos the engine revs quickly with the blip of the throttle.

The bads: The body is straight and the panels are decent. It would need a lot of work to become a "show" car so don't expect that when you see it. The only thing we played with was the performance. The black magic fan was put in last, and needs a manual switch to keep it on longer, the car will overheat if you sit at a stoplight long enough. Easy fix. Small power steering leak.

It has made many 45 minute drives to the track and back, the engine/tranny have been very dependable.

Price: $1,950
