Yes I know it doesnt look like an '86 GT but it is.
I'll try to keep this short. It was considered a theft recovery although it was never actually stolen. One of the VIN plates was missing and it got impounded. I had to use a titling service to get the title to the original VIN and then it had to have a new VIN issued to it through New York DMV. So the new VIN for this car is NY67917 which cross-references with the original VIN. The original VIN is 1FABP28MXGF325985.
All you have to know is that it has a completely legal, clean and clear title that will work in any state and I can give copies of all paperwork done during the process. The title just shows this NY VIN now.
Now onto the car. It is actually an '86 GT that was originally a dark red color but has been repainted silver in a base/clear years ago. It has an '82 GT style nose in perfect condition and a pace car hood and a saleen wing. Most of the paint is still very nice but there are a couple spots needing touch up. The car seems very solid. It shows 33,000 miles on the odometer. Add another 100,000 and I think that is the accurate miles.
The engine seems to run good and it starts right up but I have never had it on the road so it may need some tune-up stuff. The engine appears to be completely stock.
The 5 sp tranny will need synchros as it grinds into second and is pretty noisy.
The rear end seems good and the traction-lok works.
I wanted to put this back to an '86 GT but have really just lost interest in this car.
This car really needs a good home. It was almost crushed while in impound twice because the title problem looked hopeless. Even if I got double what I am asking I would still be taking a loss on this car.
