1985 Mercury Capri for sale in Chicago
You are looking at a COMPLETELY rust free, from Florida, 1985 Mercury Capri with T-tops. This is no stock car! The body is immaculate. The interior needs work. The drivetrain will make you change your shorts.
This car is set up to run on E85 fuel.
This Car runs deep in the 12's religiously, and hits high in the 11's with the right weather and driver that can row a boat.
The engine is a 5.0 302 C.I. with GT40P Heads, a motorsport E303 cam (with matched valve springs), roller rockers, and a dual plane street intake to make the power brakes happy. The hood scoop is completely functional, and crams air into the air cleaner.
The fuel system consists of a sumped fuel tank with -8 braided steel hose running from it. It has an electric 255 LPH pump, and an adjustable regulator. The carb is a 650 CFM Quick Fuel E85 carb. There is a Wide band O2 sensor with a guage to keep an eye on it all.
The transmission is a 2001 T5 with a HD clutch in front of it, and a pro 5.0 shifter to bang the gears with. It also has a custom Hydraulic clutch set up on it. Because its a 2001 it has an electronic speed sensor on it for the speedo, and the speedometer does not work. I use my cell phone GPS for speed to keep me out of trouble with the local Smokeys.
The body has frame ties to keep the power from twisting it up, and the torque boxes have had battle boxes welded in to keep them from ripping out.
the rear suspension has all solid, and spherical bushings. The upper control arms are adjustable tubular, and the lowers are rectangular tube lift bars (for instant center improvement).
The car had a five lug conversion. It has 4 wheel disc brakes. The front rotors are drilled and slotted. The rear differential has a tight Posi with 3.23 gears. The front struts are new, and have caster/camber plates.
The wheels are CUSTOM. They are 1998 Mustang GT wheels. The fronts have been narrowed to 4.5" wide, and the rears were widened to 11" wide. The rear tire size is 295/50/16 Drag Radials..... yea it needs them, yes they fit, and yea it looks mean.
The exhaust is 100% stainless steel. That is 100%....... From the long tube headers off the heads, all the way back to the tips. The mufflers are Super Turbo style strait throughs.
All in all this is one hell of a car, you couldnt build for what I'm asking for it. The only thing it needs is interior work. If you don't like the fact that it runs on E85 (although there should be no reason for it unless there are no stations around you), you can just toss a regular gasoline carb on it and go......... .2 of a second slower, but all it would take is a carb.
This car was appraised at $8500. It is insured for $8500. The cash price is a steal at $6500 firm.
I have no problem assisting a shipping co. with loading. When bought the car three years ago, I used uship.com it cost me $600 to have the car shipped from southern Florida to Chicago.
