I dont need to sell this car, it actually pains me to even consider it, however I found a street rod project that is calling my name. My price is firm, I wont budge a penny Or I will just keep it tucked away like it is right now. This is not a race car, I dont know how fast it is! It was built for longevity not speed If you want to know what it runs in the 1/4 or the 1/8th then buy it and take it to the strip. (but since we are on that subject if I say it beat the neighbors brand new 5.0 by a few car lengths then you should have an idea

This is a very rare (with buck tag to verify) triple black 1983 mustang GT convertible. Factory 5.0 5speed with tilt, cruise, AC, premium sound, PS, PB and PW (front only). Has Halo headrests (not netted) Body is Very very nice, but I made a change from the plane Jane 83 front bumper cover to the 84.5 GT bumper cover with Marchal fog lights, even used the factory fog light wiring for lights and switch under the dash.
Car gets attention absolutely everywhere it goes! Runs and drives like brand new! Looks amazing and according to the Marti report run by the previous owner it only has 61 Twins. Less than 1000 mustang GT convertibles were made for the USA in 1983, when you add in all the options that this car came with and the rare color options this is a very very rare car. And mechanically this car will not need any attention for years and years. I have not left a single thing for the next owner to do!
Full mechanical restoration started on 10/31/12. Restoration completed 5/2013.
Original number matching engine is in my possession, unhurt, just weak!
All brake pads and shoes replaced, master cylinder and brake booster replaced. Ford Motorsport “C” springs installed and leveled front to back. New shocks and struts installed. Spring isolators and sway bar bushing replaced with “energy suspension” poly bushings. Energy suspension Motor and transmission mounts.
Radiator replaced with 2 core (1” cores) Eagle exact fit radiator. New replacement water pump, fan clutch and fan installed. (runs 180 all day every day!)
Motorsport aluminum drive shaft, 1990 8.8 rear installed with new brakes, new clutches (one extra friction clutch installed) new 3.89 gears, all new bearings and seals.
Ford Motorsport T5Z transmission ($1695) installed with billet steel light weight (#17) flywheel and motorsport “king cobra” clutch. Pro 5.0 shifter with factory short throw stick with leather knob and boot.
Adjustable 3 hook quadrant installed with firewall adjuster and adjustable clutch cable.
BBK ceramic coated 1 5/8” shorty headers with MAC offroad H pipe and MAC pro chambers mufflers with 3” stainless tail pipes.
All door and trunk weather stripping is new, interior is brand new factory leather from TMI, door panels are brand new and also TMI. Top is not original but is in excellent condition with Glass rear window. Dash pad is brand new. Stereo, all 3 dash speakers and door speakers are brand new and were professionally installed. Has a brand new TMI convertible top boot, all top weather stripping is also brand new. Door/window felt is new ( and an absolute pain in the arss to install). Power windows on front doors and only front doors work perfectly with new guide bushings! (PIA also!) Carpet is brand new including the carpet at the bottom of the rear side panels. (Convertible specific carpet) Console armrest pad is new.
Tires are brand new 245/50/16 firestone fire hawk
Engine block is 1990 302 roller block .040 over, scat 3.4” cast 9000 series crank, scat 5.400 H beam rods with Mahle flat top pistons with reliefs for TFS or inline heads. Cam is FTI, heads are Dart Windsor sr “lite” (aluminum) Springs are Anderson motorsports high rev, ARP 7/16 studs with PRW 1.7 roller rockers, intake is RPM air gap, carb is 750 double pumper (4011 series 2 piece aluminum) Ignition system is stock but all remanufactured (dizzy and ignition control module) Power bond balancer, and under drive water pump pulley. All engine bearings were replaced, has DSS main support and studs. Oil pump is standard volume high pressure (M68A) Oil pump shaft is the large ARP version. Valve covers and air cleaner are original.
All fuses and all light bulbs were replaced. All dash lights are now the LED GREEN, Hood light is now LED as well.
