1986 GT Hatch, Loaded and Bone Stock

Canyon Red, PW/PL, Tilt, Cruise, T-Tops, 5-speed. Just clicked 100kmi.

What's excellent: Original engine, original transmission (rebuilt twice), original interior with no rips tears, or stains. No rust anywhere. It's been garaged virtually all it's life with few minor exceptions. Still has original 15" slot wheels and new tires.

What's less-than-excellent: Needs weatherstrip and AC needs to be recharged. It did have a very minor fender bender a couple years ago but all original sheetmetal was repaired and maintained. Whole car was painted base/clear at that time. Body is straight and looks great. Grey trim could use some touch-up. I'm being critical.

This car has been in my sphere of influence since it was 6 months old. Originally purchaced used by my (now) ex-wife from a friend's dealership, sold to my best friend back around 2005, and he sold back to me 2 years ago. I hate to see it go since I've been involved with the car for 25 years but I don't drive it much anymore and I have other projects and need the garage space.

Most of these cars have been beat hard and modified. Not this one. It was adult/female driven most of it's life. You're not gonna find many around that are in this shape. I'd prefer to sell it to someone who appreciates that and will keep it close to original.

Thinking somewhere around $5700 obo.

I'll try to take some pics this weekend and post 'em.

Took Nigel (my ex-wife's name for the car) to the coin-op carwash this morning for a quick rinse. Haven't had it out since probably Novemeber and she cranked up on the first twist of the key. Drove nice.

Here's an album with pics:

Nigel pictures by mausc - Photobucket

A couple more details:
  • New battery last summer
  • New alternator last summer ( I kept the original instead of returning it for a core)
  • Comes with a nice Kenwood AM/FM/CD player (with red numerals) that I never installed
  • Yes, it still has the original T-top covers.

It's not a restored show car by any means but is about the best looking/driving, unrestored 86 you'll find.

I'll try to be more active and responsive on this thread.

I had a couple inquiries about the accident damage. I fount two pics of the car before it was repaired and added them to the online album I posted.

Damage was minor. I was cut off from the left and the guy nudged the bumper and fender. Fender and hood had minor damage and were both repaired via hammer and dolly. VERY little filler to smooth. The plastic headlight retainer assembly behind the soft bumper was cracked so it was replaced with one from a donor car. Soft bumper/facia was retained. Shop did a great job.

I hope that helps.
