How much for 1986 GT with 55K miles in NC

It has been a long time since I posted on the corral, but would like a little help. I am strongly considering buying the vehicle described below, but want some opinions on what it is worth...

Second owner bought a wrecked '87 Saleen in the early 90's and bought every part available, which was a complete rear disc brake axle 5 lug bolt pattern, complete front K frame assembly complete with steering rack and all suspension and brake parts, also 5 lug. These mechannical parts are identical to what a 1986 SVO mustang would have used OE. They put a 4.10 ring and pinion and correct speedo gear in the car, along with all polyurethane bushings front and rear. It also has boxed upper rear control arms and adjustable Koni struts/shocks( took the rear Koni's out 'cause too rough of a ride, but are included). It also has SVO frame bracing installed and a lower G-load brace on the front. It has Ford Motorsport prog. rate spring set installed along with fully adjustable caster/camber plates on the front. It has real Ford Cobra R wheels, 17x9.5, with proper wheel offsets for front and rear ( cannot rotate front to rear or vice versa, rear has deeper offset for the disc brake axle is wider than a stock drum brake). The engine is stock, with bolt on's including equal length shorty headers, 2.5" no cat H pipe, full 2.5" Dynomax exhaust with OE stainless tailpipes, underdrive pulleys, 1/2" phenolic intake upper-lower spacer, and a 3 tube large capacity radiator with a high flow 180* thermostat and replaced water pump. The interior is completely original with the exception of an aftermarket Panasonic AM/FM/CD stereo (I have the original Ford unit). It also has a Ford Motorsport Cobra clutch set along with an Aluminum driveshaft. Along with all of the mechanical work, the owner disassembled the body, took it to bare metal, and repainted in the original Light Regatta Blue with PPG Deltron Basecoat/Clearcoat. The car is in excellent condition in every aspect, although it is not perfect. The paint is now 10+ years old and has a few scratches here and there, and one mystery bubble between the rear hatch opening and the side window on the pass. side near the roof. The car has all of the original paperwork which includes the owners manual, service book, and warranty book which has a warranty request card. Also, it has had all of the fluids changed to Mobil 1 synthetic since '91 or '92. Also, when the suspension was installed, the owner used '86 SVO e-brake cables in doing the rear disc brake swap, so the e-brake works as it should.

I remember seeing that GT listed,I think for $8500. I think it's a solid $5500-$6200 car.

You guys are on point... The owner is asking $8,500. I believe it could be had for $7,500. I borrowed the car for the weekend. It has a very stiff suspension. I think I need something a little tamer. I think the car is worth it to someone, just not me. I would have to take out the 4.10's and change the springs. I have actually been dealing with my friend who is friends with the owner, and I believe the owner is going to end up keeping it.

Good to hear from you Fiveoh... I keep getting cars and not being satisfied with them. My wife says I like the buying and selling, just not the owning. I had gotten a new Bullitt, but it sat after I got a take home car... So I sold it. Now I am thinking GT500 convertible, who knows...

Got it, beautiful car... I ended up buying a car at the auto fair... I am sure most would say I paid too much. Triple black 93 LX 5.0, 5spd, convertible, all options (power seat, CD, leather) 79K miles, but looks like 40K, all stock including exhaust, air silencer. Chrome ponies. I paid $8600.

I would give $6500 max for it if it was near perfect... Maybe $7k.... I always ask myself when I buy something, could I sell it pretty quickly if I had to and try to get most of my money back .....
