Wanting to trade 86 SVO for something different
I origionaly bought this car to put a 351 and a vortech into. but after driving it, i cant bring myself to chop up the svo to make a car i can made out of every other mustang. having said that, i would like to trade it for a nice roller or completed car. i hope i make you mustang purist happy with my descision.
the car was left in a barn for 8 years. just after the koni struts were replaced with new koni's and the trans was rebuilt. the car has a new 155lph fuel pump, a new headgasket, new carpet, headliner and all interior has been redied to the origional smoke grey. it needs seat covers and dew wipes and a weatherstriping kit. the front bumper has damage from rubbing on parking blocks for many years. i have the seperated peice, i talked to a guy at a local body shop and he said that it can be fixed by using the origional peice that has seperated, and also adding some reinforcment would help to keep it from happening again. the car has a small amount of rust in the bottom of the doors. it is only visable when opening the door and looking at the back side where the seam is. i have been looking for doors and had planned on just replacing rather that fixing, but the body guy said it is fixable by blasting and covering with some rust inhibater since it hasnt came through, its just rust in the seam. there is also some rust in the hatch, but again i was just planning on replacing the hatch with a fresh one. since doors and hatch are able to be had for $50-$100. the cars odometer shows 44k, im sure it has rolled over. the hood had a small dent in it from a hedge apple falling on it and it has one small door ding in the driver side just behind the door. aside from that the only thing that has been changed from factory is a k&n filter, a 3" down pipe and muffler, running back to a stainless tailpipe, wider rear tires, and a boost gauge. i have the origional filter box and and filter to put it back to stock.
the car runs great but does use alittle bit of oil. i have a 2nd motor that came with the car, it is out of an '87 turbo coupe and is complete from valve cover to oil pan and waterpump to flywheel still has the turbo and manifold on it. i was extreamly surprised at how this car stops and turns. it is a true joy to drive, and it will surprise many cars on the street. it will hang with a 12 second car to 60mph. its like driving a gocart.
here are some pics of the day i found it. it is really dirty from sitting for 8 years in a barn. it has since cleaned up pretty nice. but still needs doors, hatch and paint. i have a painter lined up and could find the doors and hatch for under $250 im sure. then my painter has agreed to paint the car for the cost of the paint ($500). i was looking to get around $2500 so if you have something to trade lets talk. if i dont find anything soon, i'll have the car painted and sell it for $5000 pretty easily. it just takes one ride in it and everyone wants to drive it home.
