1968 coupe, (Lots of Pics) $14,500

Well unfortunately I think it is time to sell my 68. I really don’t want to sell the car, but I’m starting my first real job and moving to the city so I just wont have anywhere to store it. I have owed the car for about 4 years. It has 4wheel disk brakes and power steering that isn't hooked up right now because the proportioning valve leaks a little drop at a time so I am just removed the belt until I rebuilt it. I am looking to get $14,500 for it and the car has 62,330 original miles on it, the motor has around 42,000 (it is from a 2001 ford explorer where most of the miles came from) and the tranny is a T-5 from a mustang cobra. I will explain the car with pictures as you go down. I am looking for another mustang so I would be open to trades for V8 mustang 2001 to present, but not looking to add any money. Convertibles are my highest interest!

First I will go over the exterior of the car. The paint is probably the only downfall of this car, I would say probably a 7 out of 10. It was really nice about 2 years ago, but I trusted a guy to do some engine work for me and it all went bad and in the process he manages to mess up the paint in a few areas. I tried to take pictures of the bad spots, but they wouldn’t come out right because he tried using touch up paint to cover it up but when you get close you can tell. Also there is a few really small spots where the paint has started to bubble a little around the lower wheel-well. From 5ft away the car looks beautiful thought and you cant see any of it. I have pictures of the car with two different hoods just to give you an idea of what it could look like with a cowl hood which is just a pin on hood. I would like to keep the cowl hood, but it could be worked into the deal. All of the body panes and stock hood are numbers matching. The wheels are pretty unique never seen them before, but they are Edelbrock polished aluminum.

The motor in this car is excellent. It started life as a 2001 ford explorer, but now it sports a Trick Flow Stage 1 cam, Weiand intake, and a brand new Holley 650DP all with electronic ignition. It does have the GT-40P heads and I have long tubes on the car. It was a struggle to get long tubes to work, but after having them custom modified they fit perfectly with no spark plug wire problems! All of the electronics on this car along with the motor is 100% new wiring and the starter solenoid is moved into the fenderwell to keep the engine bay clean. The radiator is a new aluminum Northern Racing one that is really nice.

For the interior and trunk is where I have done some custom work. I made a custom console wrapped in nice black vinyl that has a Hurst shifter, arm, and pistol grip along with new Autometer gauges. There is an access door on the passenger side so you can access the fuse block. Both doors have been repainted and new door panels and arm rests. The red switch that you see if for controlling the roll control. It was installed by the previous owner and even thought this new motor in it isn’t to radical I figured it wasn’t worth removing it and I thought it looked good on the console. Only used once to make sure it was wired correctly.

I just finished up the truck. The battery was relocated to the truck by the previous owner and welding cable was used to run the wiring through the car. I made a battery hold down for it and sprayed a flat black rust inhibitor all in the trunk, built a sub floor out of wood, and then covered it with a black carpet.

This car isn’t a show car, but it makes an excellent cruiser and is a very reliable car. The car sounds like a beast with long tubes going through new 2.5 exhaust to Flowmaster 40’s that are dumped before the axle. Its got that turned up 450+ horsepower sound but has a nice mild 302 that will last forever; best of both worlds in my opinion. In these last few pictures you can see where she sleeps, in a barn covered at all times and NEVER seen rain or snow. Again I HATE to sell this car, but its just the time in my life where I have got to make the tough decision. Again I am looking to get $14,500 for this beauty. Thanks for looking!!

Thanks 351! I know its not a show car, but Its not a rust bucket either so I wasn't sure how the market was (figured it wasn't good) and where to place myself. It doesn't kill me to keep it so I can't complain to much!
