Looking to do a 305 SBC Swap

Well, I have been toying around with the idea of doing an SBC Mustang, and my reasons for going with the 305 are simple. It's cheap, it has more cubes than a 302 (making more hp per mod much easier), they are less likely to split, and with a set of Corvette heads it should be a very powerful, since Corvettes generally make alot of power. I have heard people mention a 3/4 race cam, but thats usually 350 sbc guys, I wonder if it would fit in the smaller 305?

I just dont see the point in wasting money on a 302 SBF when the 305 SBC is bigger and likely better. What all do I need besides a k member? Will this fit under the stock hood if I run EFI?

I know some of you are thinking I could do a windsor swap for cheap, but good luck finding cylinder heads that come on a high level car like a Corvette for cheap.

To be honest sbc praise those "awesome " corvette head as if they were gold but in reality they are still iron stock heads. There still not enough on a 305 to make some awesome street burner. A sbf un a ford will be much cheaper. If cheap is your path. Exploder motor and a tfs cam. Only reason in my eyes to go.chevy is lsx. Other than that no way worth it. My. 02

NO WAY will a 3/4 race cam fit in a 305!!!!, maybe an RV cam or a TORQUER cam if YOU ARE LUCKY!! the corvette heads will be too much head, you need some 283 heads and that thing will FLYYY!!!! (305's are a torqe motor) combine that with a 4 barrel carb and an ellenbrack intake, a 3 speed with slap shift and some 70's on the front and 50s on the back (if they will fit) if not 60's will do, jack it up in the back with air shocks and the 50's will probably work. put a pete jackson on it, so it sounds like it has a blower, also summit has a great deal on the chrome dress up kit for that engine, make sure you get the chrome oil pan i dont think it comes with. for wheels i would try to find some slots or some mags. 14's in front 15's rear,(it looks TOUGH, believe me), with the 283 heads, the compression might be high, so you will want to run either turbo 108 octane booster, or TURBO BLUE! get some traction bars, YOU WILL NEED THEM, they look awesome with a JEGS sticker on them, or MOROSO, or ELDABROK, for my shifter i would get the BEM zgate. be sure to weld your spider gears together, or that limitied slip will kick in. the corvettes had awesome manifolds on them as good as any header out there, they are called ram horns. if you decide to go injected i would definitely go TPI. IF you have any questions i know a guy that has been building these things for ever just ask me and ill get an answer from him, back in the day he had a 283 that had just an rv cam and aluminum intake, in a vega , that thing would pull the wheels through 2nd gear , he was smoking chevelles and vettes all day because he ran TURBO BLUE ON THE STREET!!! OH ya, he also had headers and true duals with cherry bombs

The correct term is "crush coke cans". As in, pull the tires and then drop them on coke cans at will. Sumanabitch WILL RUN CUZ!
