Notch goes 9's @ 144 today and sets fastest LS1 stock bottom end record! <video>

Well today was a nice day at Famoso Raceway (So Cal).. DA hovered around 800-1000ft most of the day (3000 ft than the last couple times out with the car). Track had very little prep as it was a cancelled "Battle of the Imports" race and they opened it to all cars. It was 90% front wheel drive street tire hondas and imports.

89 LX Mustang Notchback - LS1 / Rossler TH350, Strange 8.8" 3.73

Straight chevron 91 octane right out of the pump on the way there, street tire drag radials..

LS1 is a stock 98 with 88k miles on it. Stock rod bolts, stock bottom end. 5.3l stock heads/rockers/lifters, CalSpeed 238/242 camshaft, Edelbrock Victor Jr /w Sheetmetal elbow - 90mm TB, Kooks 1-7/8" Longtubes, dual 3.5" to 3" MAC mufflers, Custom EDGE (3500 foot, 4200 transbrake) 9" Converter, New 325/50/15 MT Drag Radials.

NGK TR7 non-proj tips, pulling 10 degrees on spray (28 down to 18), No t-brake/2-step for spray passes.

Made a few 10 sec n/a passes and then turned on the juice (.067 n20 jet) (simple single fogger wet kit).

Nitrous:
Both spray passes spun pretty hard blacktracking hard to a 1.6 60ft on both (horrible)

1st pass: 9.98 @ 143 (sprayed it about 150 feet out)
2nd pass: 9.93 @ 144 (sprayed 10 feet out, spun hard 115 mph @ 1/8th)

Ran out of gear both passes about 100 foot before the stripe, coming off the spray and riding the 7050 rev limiter out. I cant bring myself to move it to 7200.

If the car would just hook! It would probably go 9.40-9.50 pretty easily but woulda-coulda-shoulda. By the way this isnt the "quickest" ET on a stock shortblock, but by far the fastest...

90 Mustang LX, 23k orig miles. Factory mint in/out. LSx Single Turbo S-91.5mm, Vasco th400, chance converter, Strange 8.8". 2700lb,
89 Notchback - Stock shortblock 88k mile LS1, th350, 3.73/28" M&H - 8.8", 9.9 @ 144 - 2850 raceweight.

Havent weighed it lately...ive been cleaning up interior adding misc back in etc but its still pretty light.

Ya stock 5.3l heads. Car is good for 146-147+ right now if it didnt run out of gear.

There are no more test'n'tunes this year so I'm going to pull the motor out and send the car over to the paint shop. Its going sonic blue with sheet metal wing, parachute etc... Probably wont be till after new years to run the car again.

It'll go back together with a forged motor..so this little stock shortblock has seen its last outing.

Actually its just a random converter I had on the shelf..its a "3500 stall Pro Edge Converter" by Edge Racing Converters. Stalls about 3000 on the foot and goes 4200 on transbrake.

Only about 2-2.5 hours away...Hows the track been there? Famoso's prep is been pretty bad lately for the test'n'tune stuff.

I think I saw your car at the Pinks race a few months ago.

I have been 9.51 at 147 MPH in my mustang with a stock bottom end 6.0 turbo deal, stock pistons/rods/bearings/rings/crank etc Granted it is not a ls1 alluminum block but the car is also about 500 lbs heavier then yours.

The runs were made on 14 psi with pump gas and meth. 1.48 best 60 foot 117 best mph to the 1/8.

Car looks like a riot none the less but trust me when I say you are not the fastest , I am probably not the fastest etc there are some guys that push these things WAY far.

Stock 6.0's are not stock 5.7 LS1's... Ive seen alot of people put up alot of claims and then come to find out its a forged piston/h-beam rod deal they claimed stock.

Like I said granted it is not a stock 5.7 rather a stock 6.0... I got pics of it going together as well as it sitting on the stand right now with the heads off if you dont believe me?

The dyno sheet was on pump gas and with the old converter which was slipping 30% at this power level... swapped to a new one and car went 6mph faster.

Some shots of us on a 5 hour cruise through a CRAZY rain storm to go race... STREET CARS RULE!

an under hood shot and then some video, 9.53/9.51 and me having some fun on the street at only 10 psi , kicks the belt off at 7000rpm and smokes the tires the whole way but I still beat the 600 hp cobra no prob.
