Good Shop in So. MD.

It is not a Mustang but it is like Mustang motor. We put a 5.0 in a 93 Ford Ranger and we are looking for a good tuner in Southern Maryland. The Setup is:

1. 2000 302 Expolrer block with short accessory package and
under drive pulleys
2. GT-40X 64cc Aluminum heads
3. B-303 cam
4. 1.7 Crane rockers (makes the B cam very close to F-303 with
2* less duration total lift is .51)
5. Cobra intakes
6. 24# injectors
7. MSD distributor, coil and MSD-6AL
8. 70mm MAF and Throttle body
9. Tremec 3550
10. 4.10 rear end, Auburn Pro posi, LPW girdle and axel braxes,
and modified latter bar.
11. Full length 1 5/8" headers

It should all be together by mid April and would like to it get fine tuned (EEC tuner) by a good reliable shop.

Waldorf eh? Remind me to avoid that ranger.....lol. I live right down the street in bryantown..and I'm mad they are putting a light at the end of my road. Anyway, I don't know of any good tuners right here in Dorf, but there are some decient ones up the road a bit. If you go up to crofton, HP by herman, ELD, and a few others are all cluttered together within about a 10 mile stretch. I don't have the numbers on me, but if you call 411 you should be able to find them with ease. I've been to HP by herman, they deal almost exclusively with mustangs and related motors, I dunno about ELD. Since that's the case, I'd try them first....I've been in there to pick up some take off parts, and the people are friendly. Give them a call. Oh, and what does this ranger look like anyway? Have any pics?

Fishtail,

Thanks for the response, I have been to HP and ELD once. I plan on hitting the dyno at ELD as soon as I get this thing put together. I think they have changed their schedule from every other Saturday to once a month.

Acutally I had forgot about HP by herman they are said to be very good.

By the way it is a little black 93 Ranger Splash regular cab. Hope to be at the Ford Fun Run at Cicel on 29 April and then MRI for the season.

Cool, let me know how it goes. I'll be sure to avoid any ominous looking black rangers with oil pans lower than they should be. If I ever see you at MIR, I'll be sure to walk over and say hello.

The Sunoco station in Waldorf on Leonardtown rd. (between Pika dr. and Post Office rd.)
The owner of the station is a guy I think his name is Willy. He used to be big into racing Mustang's. He gave me some good advice. Stop by there and see if he'll help you out.

Sawbones25, thanks for the info. I'll check him out for sure. That is where I get my gas about 90% of the time. I only live a few miles south on Rt 5 off Renner Rd.

Well now......that would explain a few things. There are always alot of mustangs sitting up there. I never get my gas anywhere but there when I'm driving my mustang around. You think they would do aftermarket installs there? I don't need it, however.....a few of the guys in the club could be interested if I could get him to do that kinda stuff.

How much did it cost you to put the 5.0 in the Splash?

Thanks

Laser Red '95 GT with under 30k miles. Slow turd but pretty. Down for upgrades for the next few months.

Engine Swap

We have about $5,000 in our swap not counting the cost of the Ranger. However, we have redone a 2000 Explorer 5.0 to produce just over 300 rwhp and have not used any used parts. We had to swap out the ignition so it would be compatiable with the EEC-IV system in the truck. We also upgraded the rear end to an 8.8 with 4.10 gears and an Eaton Pro posi unit with a LPW girdle and tube braces and or using a Tremec 3550 5-speed transimission with a mid-shift kit. Below is web page that tons of inot on Ranger V8 swaps.
