yes, there are emission tests in VA

You may have to pass the sniffer test if you want to get VA tags on your car. VA resident need the emission test every two years. Good luck

Not in all parts of VA. I've lived in Hampton Roads all my life, they've never done sniffer tests here, just a visual inspection for cats. That may be changing in the future if they don't pass the sales tax hike though.

As far as the cops part goes, they seem to dislike loud stereos and speeding more than loud exhaust. Just don't go rolling through any residential areas at 25 in first gear and you should be cool.

I lived in NoVa for almost 3 years and not 1 emissions test.

Also if you are south of Fredericksburg, there are no emissions tests.

No emissions testing around here - just safety inspections annually unless your car wears antique license plates. Come on down - we'll be glad to have ya

no sniffer tests yet, just visual...i.e. you need to have cats on the car unless you can find someone who is willing to look the other way when under the car.
