Who's in Richmond, Va

Okay guys I'm moving to the Richmond area in March. I wanted to know who was in the area. My family will still be in Michigan until summer. So I'll be looking for things to keep me busy and out of trouble.

myself and VTSTANG (and chris ihara) live about an hour or so north of richmond...chris is a bit further nw than us.

welcome to the Old Dominion! lots of history in this state and TONS to do, we've got everything from beaches to mountains.

here's a must do: go to one of the saturday nite NASCAR races over at RIR. even the non-NASCAR folks have a good time.

Welcome to Virginia. Like Gimpy said we're about an hour north, there's all kinds of stuff to do, plus Corral Day will be in Myrtle Beach this year, so your much closer. Let us know when you get to town.

My folks live in Orange County, I love it down there, if it weren't so far away from work I'd live there in a second.

I'm up in Quantico. But sadly I will be moving overseas this summer. Hopefully I'll be able to get done to the strip in Richmond to get some shake down runs in.

I don't know Richmond very well, but let us know when you get to Woodbridge, there's a couple of us up here.

There's a shop in Newington (about 10 miles north of Woodbridge) that Jason used. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the place but I remember thinking they were pretty good. I'm sure Jason will be back to give you details.

The shop in Newington is Springfield Motorsports, they did OK. I hear there is a better shop in Woodbridge but I don't have any info on them right now. The machine shop I go to knows them and speaks highly of them. I'll have to give them a call and get the name and see if they still have excellent service.

When I get a chance, one of the parts guys at Battlefield Ford recommended a place in Catlett. I have their card somewhere, I'll have to find it and post their info.

he could be talking about Springfield Motorsports, they're in Newington but that's really just part of Springfield. i have never dealt with them, so can't give you any feedback. they've been around for a long time though.

How about JLT in Chesapeke? I know they make the inlet tubes that are popular on the 500s but are they full service or what?

Here is a link to Springfield Motorsports

http://www.springfieldmotorsport.com/

The place that was recommended by the Ford parts guy is

Curtin Dynotech
13106 Bristersburg Rd
Midland, Va 22728
540-752-1600

I haven't had a chance to call the machine shop and ask about the dyno shop in Woodbridge. I'll try and do that soon, but life is hectic right now.

Gimpy has a JLT on his Cobra it seems like a nice piece, he drove down to the shop to pick it up he'd have more insight to how they are

JLT isn't full service. he just sells the products on his website.

Got an estimate on some work from Springfield Motorsports. Very professional guys. The website says they get back to you in two days and they did. I think I'm gonna break down and bust some knuckles myself and do my own work. I will probably still use them for their dyno services.

I have been curious about this for a LONG time. Is that Mario? If so, he used to live down this way. I actually bought a bunch of parts from one of his OLD OLD combos way back in the day.

There's a bunch of us in Richmond. We used to have a pretty big Mustang scene around here, but I've been out of touch for a few years (life gets in the way sometimes) so I'm not sure what all is going on around here these days. Finally getting myself back out to the track this year. Hopefully some of the other local guys will chime in here too. I know they're still on here.

Richmond area

If you're interested in the road race scene check out NASA Mid Atlantic. I'm an official with Chris Cobetto's operation and we run 8 events per season; 4 at Virginia International Raceway (a premier road racing venue near Danville) and 4 at Summit Point near Winchester. There's HPDE events, autocross and race groups; Mustangs dominate the CMC Challenge and American Iron series in our race groups. John Felton oversees the autocross events for us with numerous events in the Richmond (Virginia Motorsports Park) area.

Specifically for Mustangs in the Richmond area, check out Performance Auto Sport. They specialize in Mustangs and other Ford-based performance. They have dyno tuning and other services. Buddy of mine uses them and swears by them. I've seen their race car fabrication (for road racing) in person and they are 1st class.

Matt I live in Hampton and used to be stationed in that prison called Langley AFB. If you need parts or great service call Rocket Performane @ (757) 596-8768. Heck man they just got a dyno machine also. They do all my work I cant handle and do a great job at a great price.

What services do they offer^^^ I work about 15 min from there. I found a place in Fredricksburg but havent seen anything they've done though, here's there site promotiontuning.com. There is a place also in Manassas called Exesive motorsports there main thing is mustangs, they do all there work but I don't think they have a dyno.
