The .5 6th gear ratio is great for 90+ speeds with my 3.73 gears, don't be afraid to gear her accordingly. 4.10s or even lower would probably work well for a straight line car.

I have done a ton of looking at this.
Gear Ratio Calculator

I have 331s on a 26.9in tire.
So 1700rpms has me at 79mph in 6th gear.
Trap speed at 6500rpms is 151mph in 4th (I think with the intake ported it will pull to 6,300rpms I know everyone will disagree but we will see)
Trap speed at 5800rpms is 135mph in 4th

So in the end I'm just need to see what RPMs the intake ends up at.
If hp is 400hp at the wheel with 5800rpms the car should run 128-130 1/4mile and would be just right.
Nitrous is just for fun and want happen often want be setting car up for it.

I may end up 355s depending on what RPMs I like at cruise and trap speed.

3.55ís and a .50 6th was ridiculous, I found myself constantly downshifting to 5th or 4th on the slightest incline but with 4.10ís itís perfect. Cruise is in the upper 1000ís (canít remember, cars been broken since march) and the car accelerates fine on inclines in 6th. Back when the motor was scíd and in the 500hp/500tq wheel range it was fine, btw I was on a 245/45r17 tire the whole time fwiw.

If I was doing it again and did not have a T56 but did have a T5 Iíd go the Astro gear set route. The T56 came with the car in my case.

You could just sell it to me?

I'm not saying I want run a 373 or 410 just thinking the rpms will be ok. Just going to wait and see power and trap and RPMs. I'm open to any gear.

I'm way too far in to go back now lol

Gear swaps are cheap enough with the 8.8 that you can play around a bit and not go broke.

At this point I have all parts ordered but the T56 and the bellhousing. Going to take me a few months to get the rest of it on the car so will save a little for that during putting the car together.

With the rockers in it should just be getting pushrod lengths ordering them. Then shipping it so I would guess the 10th. Just a guess. I work in the oilfield 2weeks on 2 weeks off and will be headed back to work on the 13th so want get much done if any. It will take me a few months due to vacations and just life. Going to shot for like end of September being up and running.

Those Jesels are mighty fine looking, I have a question. Have they embraced, and do you set these up for half-lift geometry, or does Jesel still prefer rocker at 90 degrees to valve at 3/4 lift? Not intending on creating a debate, just curious if they have changed their philosophy or not.

I was wondering the same thing and was just waiting to see. I bought them for the better geometry mainly.

That thing is menacing looking, not to mention totally gorgeous. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on the rocker shaft set-up since Jim didn't want to answer the question. Does it appear the rockers are designed for a half lift geometry, or the old Jesel philosophy of minimum sweep through the second half of valve lift? Were instructions included for the shaft installation that would answer that question?

It doesn't look like it but you would have to call Jesel to know for sure.

Transmission is out about an hour from pulling the motor.

K-member comes in Thursday but I'll be at work.

May hold off on putting motor in just think it maybe easier to bolt Transmission and motor together and put in at one time?

Any of you done it? Better to do together or motor then Transmission?

Sending the Cobra intake off to be ported tomorrow.

I dropped the motor and transmission in together. It was very tight and I barely made it.

The first time I dropped them in together, I had the car on stands under the tires and it was pretty easy with all the extra room. Iím not sure Iíd do it that way without the cribs under the tires, I doubt there would be enough room.

I have a lift so I can make this happen with it. Thanks guy I do it together then.

One thing that may help also is my K-member will have a 3/4in drop in it.

So funny story I get home start putting flywheel on the car get it on torqued add clutch grab the bellhousing and remember I didn't add the plate behind the flywheel yes most have done this I'm sure and sadly its not my first time. But man I was really taking my time and torquing everything to specs. I had never put a dual clutch together before. I took a few pics of me being stupid.

Also pic with hormonic balancer on (Had to use installer) (ARP bolt)

ARP waterpump Pulley bolts

Added 2 magnets to the oil filter.

Lets change gears and talk about the new K-member. PA racing.

I had never changed out a k-member before so I had a friend come over and help who has changed a ton of them. Just wanted him to show me the best way and so I would know more about how to drop it with motor and transmission down the road.

First off he said the K-member was made super well and he really liked it. He said it fitting so good saved us a ton of time.old one out new one in took 3 hours total. (I do have a lift and transmission jack)

Keep in mind I did a 3/4in drop motor mounts and rack.

I was worried about the dart block and oil pan but it has a ton of room. Even when I added the convertible style motor mounts another 3/4in drop.

Have pics of before and after.

Spring perches looked great and all fit great.

Steering rack
I'm using stock so I bought BBK offset bushing so I could move it up or down or how ever I needed it.

At first I went up high (The idea was to use my stock steering shaft I really didn't want the aftermarket)(Yes, I tried scoping the inner shaft out) but no matter how hard I tried I could get it to work so ended up setting the bushing to make it as low as I could and the most out of the way. Then I ordered the MM steering shaft.

All this will be better updated at a later time when I get it all working together.

The pic of my dog is in my 92 GT she was headed to the VET lol. (She is a (Blue Lacy bread))

Installing T56

See post #92 with link for parts list and more info.

Key points

If I had to do it all over I would have just bought 99% of my stuff from Hanlon Motorsports. I really didn't save any money and would have saved me a ton of time.

One thing to remember is the T56 and the T56 magnum are different.

I bought the LMR pigtail kit it comes with the VSS pigtail I didn't need and no pigtail for the electric speedo if you plan to use it. (I didn't) but if you did the transmission comes with the sensor but you will still need the pigtail.

The big thing was the pivot ball was to long for the dual friction clutch. So I bought the Lakewood pivot ball (15502) I made it as short as I could get it and still get the fork on. (I don't think you would need this with a single clutch)

Even with that I still had to grind a little off the fork to really free it up and get it out of any bind. I know this might sound like a big deal but if you have a cheap wheel grinder you can do this in 5 min no big deal. (see pics)

Now own to electrical it really wasn't that bad and I'm going to give you all the info. SEE PICS

First off the neutral safety switch. I just cut the cable after the plug (cut by the sensor) that way I still had the plug on my car and could always buy a new sensor. Then you just put the wires together. To test this you can take you sensor wires with a volt meter and check the ohms with it in neutral and in gear. it will test ohms in neutral. thats the way you want it all the time like it is in neutral so the wires go together. zips tie it out of the way or if you really want to clean it up and don't mind pulling the carpet up you could pull carpet find wires cut and tie together and hide under carpet.

Now for the back up lights is simple cut the sensor side tie in with your new pigtail you bought plug into new style sensor and you are done.

Now the reverse lockout this also ended up being easy. (See pics for help) They say its 2.5x2.5 but its 1inx1in
I just ran it behind the radio.
You have 4 wires https://img1.wsimg.com/blobby/go/197...h40_640512.pdf
Ground Black (Just ground it)
power to reverse lockout and Unit Red (Need key on 12 volts)
ground to reverse lockout White
remote wire to VSS. Blue (This will work with your stock VSS I did it on the +side but they say it doesn't matter)(See pic)
I pulled carpet and tied into the VSS inside the car. I also plugged the 2 wires I needed outside through the rubber plug that the transmission wires came through the car so it was super clean. those 2 wire go to the reverse lockout.

Last thing the speedo cable you do need the long one see link above.

You can see in the pic I used some wire boots to make sure it didn't get hot from exhaust. see right of the exhaust in pic and in the other pic you can see how I ran it. With the magnum the VSS just plugs right in. The only thing is you have to leave the electric one in on the other side. not a big deal.

You can also see how I put a boot on my clutch cable to keep it from getting hot.

Few other things I thought I would add.

Motor mounts didn't fit Dart Block common problem. I just opened the holes up.

My Valve covers didn't clear my shaft rockers, BUT I really didn't want tall valve covers. So what to do. I added (RPC valve cover Risers only nice black set I could find) part# R7668 They gave me the same hight as after market but got to reuse the stock valve covers. They still didn't fit had to grind a little off the inside of the risers not a big deal they were just well made. I know I paid just as much as I would have for new nice looking aftermarket set but thats not what I wanted.

Now my valve cover studs wasn't going to fit so I ended up buying (ARP 245-7601 studs)

Also bought me 2 ARP studs to put the upper intake on that will make life easy when it comes to the nitrous plate thats between the upper and the lower.

ARP has a ton of differs studs you can buy but they aren't listed on the website you have to call with the size you need and they can give you a part #
