Check Engine Light

Can I reset my check engine light at home or do I need a computer? Ive got a 2000 GT with an off road h-pipe and my MIL light came on before I installed MIL eliminators. Can I do anything about it like disconecting the batery or something? Also Ive heard that if you dont know what you are doing with a diagnostic scanner you can erase the whole EEC is this true?
Thanx
Chris

Just go to Autozone or a place like that, and they'll check and/or erase your codes for free usually...

No, you can't erase the EEC programming with a diagnostic tool.

Just disconnect the battery for a while and install MIL eliminators if you haven't yet.
