Question Speedcal question...stock speedo gear needed for proper setup, right?

Ok, my 4.56's, 31 spline axles and C-locker should be going in within the next 2 weeks. I've been running a 23 tooth speedo gear for 3 years and can't seem to find my stock speedo gear. I'm assuming the stock speedo gear is needed to properly set up the speedcal, correct?

Thanks

now voters are starting to wake up and hope there is no change

Yes...You can use the stock pink 19 tooth, or any other Ford speedo gear such as black 20 or red 21. Go here http://www.dallasmustang.com/speedcal.htm and you will see what I mean. I used a red 21 for part of the correction, and the SpeedCal did the rest. The menu works out the setting for what ever you use. The point is to use a 19, 20, or 21 because they last. I do believe most people just use the stock speedo gear.

I think TriBlkCobra advises you to use the stock gear, or go buy a new one if you can't find yours, cause the stock one lasts a lot longer than the aftermarket plastic ones since they tend to shred...but yeah, it'll work with any vss gear...the calculator on the speedcal page lets you put in which gear you have...

I've been lucky I guess with my speedo gear. I know a lot of people with 23 tooth gears have had them shred, but mine's worked flawlessly for 3+ years and only off by about 2mph.

Missouri guy...The 19,20, and 21 tooth speedo gears are stock Ford gears. And they last. It's the 23 that is not. When I recently installed my SpeedCal, the white 23 tooth I was using was about worn out with a little over 5000 miles.
