Exclamation going to first FFW in Baytown

Hey all,

I wanted to see what the vets had to say about attending this event. I've never been, but will go to Baytown as a spectator. I will get there sometime Saturday afternoon.

I wanted to catch Pro 5.0 and the Modular class, but what else should I watch, especially if I want to see Mods run heads up in other classes?

Are the swap meets any good? How are the prices there?

I'm not sure I understand the brochure schedule. What times should I be there Sat and Sun?

My wife and 16mo old daughter may stay at the hotel while this is going on. I think the noise may scare her, but I'm not sure on this either.

Any tips are helpful. Thanks.

Mark VanMeter is running in the Renegade class at least he did in Orlando and Altanta so keep and an eye out for them. As for good times to watch racing. On Saturday qualifying rounds start around noon time before then it's just bracket cars. There are three rounds of qualifying but generally speaking everyone runs the first round. Mod Motor will run first round elimination on Saturday evening but the time will vary. Sunday same thing action starts for eliminations in the heads up classes and mod motor around noon.

I'll be there Friday afternoon.

wow, looks like a whole crew from baton rouge is goin. I'm goin with my dad, a friend and his dad. when are yall leavin?
i think we are gonna leave baton rouge at like 2 or 3.

oh yeah for the noise thing. a couple of weeks ago at state capital dragway they had a super street outlaw car there. i dont if any of yall were there but it was black w/ saleen ground effects. it was turbo charged and was not loud at all. i think some of the imports were even louder than it. the only thing you could hear from it was the turbo sucking air.

If the wife and kiddo don't want to go there are plenty of things to do very close to all of the hotels. One of the biggest is San Jacinto Mall. Located right on I-10 at the Garth Road exit. Over 100 stores and eating establishments along with a kids section above the food court. Movie theaters too. The San Jacinto Battleground Memorial isn't very far either. With the monument and the Battleship Texas located right on the very site where Texas defeated the Mexican Army led by Santa Anna.

Houston isn't too far either. Astroworld is open now as is Waterworld. They shouldn't have a problem finding something to do.

The noise isn't bad at all. Nothing like an NHRA event. Practically every car here has mufflers. The bracket cars are usually louder than the Pro cars.

Anyone heard from James Hensler?

Nice sales pitch SD. From listening to you somebody might think your mother was on the chamber of commerce or something

I remeber the last time I was in Houston(nhra summer nationals) we went to this place by hooters and a big movie theater, it was a place to play pool, any age to get in. Me, my dad, a friend and his dad all went it was really fun.

Heather,

Yeah, can you believe it? I do something besides work, eat, and sleep. It's ironic that I may have to drive all the way to Tx to see your car.

Mustang92,

Do the classes run qualifying/eliminations in any particular order?

Kelly,

I'm leaving for Dallas tomorrow, and will swing back through Houston on Sat.

TheGame,

You *had* to mention a mall. My wife is the main reason my porting stash disappeared. Oh well.

What about the vendor booths? Do they typically offer better prices? Any tips on protecting myself if I purchase something?

Thx all.

Generally it's Focus Frenzy, Top Truck, Mod Motor, Street Warrior, Street Bandit, Street Renegade, Street Outlow, Pro 5.0.
