Question How to remove the BACK SEAT-2000 GT

Need help in removing back seat of 2000 GT. I used to push in to release, doesn't seem to work on my new one. My Haynes Manual says there is a release button someplace, but I have not found it yet. Can anyone help?????
Thanx , Bob

Look/feel under the seat cushions. There is one button per side. Push these in and the cushions lift right out. That allows you access to the bolts holding down the seat back frame.

Just a note. If you have mufflers that drone right now, don't remove the seat. I did mine last week and went deaf. Thought you might want to know.

The buttons are under the front edge, in the middle of the leaft and right seats. Slip a screw driver under the front, and slide it left/right to find the hold-downs. Then press the buttons and pull up.

OK,
I found the mechanism, They are really located far back under the seat, I can just barely see them with a rounded off trowel I revamped. I have been pushing, sweating, cussing at my wife because she cannot hold the flashlight right, I haven't seen a button yet. Is it on top or front of the mechanism???? Push, pull, up, down which way and what???
Thanx again,
Bob

Sorry I didn't clarify my earlier post. Push the buttons in; they are on the front of the mechanism/housing.

On my car, the pass side was simple, but I had a devil of a time pushing in the driver side button. I think I used a screwdriver to finally get it to go in.

You don't need to see anything so you don't need a flashlight. Put a 6-8" flat tip S/D under the front part of the back seat(facing twards the back of the car). if your looking at where the ass of each seat is move the S/D a little more in tward the middle. Once you feel it hit something it should be the buttom. You'll want to pull back on the S/D and move it about an 1" more so your S/D is right in front of the button, then just push the button in with the S/D and pull up on the seat. There are two of those buttons, one on each side...

When you get your see out, I believe what you'll find is that the factory overlooked the fact that the back seats aren't leather at all. Mine appears to be covered in man made vinyl. Now THAT is a very big wrinkle.

Angry

I think it is VINYL Too, the only leather is the seating surfaces of the front seat. Still haven't got the seat out...olbob
