I'm frustrated with my ET's. Help please!

I went to Milan tonight all fired up for my first run's of the year. Got 10 in and the best was a pidly 14.000.
I've got 4.10's. 2 chamber flows, MAC O/R h-pipe, nitto 555r's, steeda pulleys, eibach springs..... and all I can get is a 14.000 with a 2.14 60ft. I know that I don't have the DR's but I drive the car about 3,000 miles a month so I figured the 555's would be better than stock for hooking up. My tires were at 20lbs out back. I'm loosing traction in 1st,2nd sounds like 3-4chirping wheel hops and third sounds off about 2 more. I know that I could probably get some better traction but damn, 14's??? Could something else be wrong. I am getting a lot of brownish shnitz around my exhaust pipes on the rear bumper. It comes off witha shot of simple green. I have had a Check engine light ever since the h'pipe install even with Mil elims Do you think that this has anything to do with it? I really appreciate any insight or help.

Thanks.

Mike

You still need to work on that 60'. What was your best trap speed?

What is the altitude of that race track? What rpm are you shifting at? 2.1 60' isn't that bad. You should be getting mid 13s @ 102mph with that setup. Strange. Do you have alot of extra weight in the car (woofer boxes, etc?)

Practice, Practice, Practice

Will be the best mod now.

With those mods you should be able to pull a 1.9-2.0 60 ft time then you should be looking at a 13.7-13.8ish.

Good luck

I've got some randoms for work in the trunk. Nothing more than 20lbs worth The altitude is not such that it would play a factor. I shift at redline, should I be trying something else?

I know I shouldn't ask but, have any suggestions on the launch. It seemed wheather I bogged, spun, or had a good launch I was seeing 2.1 -2.3 60 footers.

Thanks again

here's my advice... heat the tires a little. Do a small burnout (2-3 seconds). Don't worry too much about tire pressures with street radials. The trick is to get the car moving, then punch it. Bring tach to 2,000 rpms and when last yellow hits, EASE clutch out. As soon as the car starts to move, floor it and dump it. **** at 5,700, no higher. that should help. Oh yeah, get a timing adjuster.

Thanks, I'm eager to get back and give it a try. I do have a T//A, I've had it for a year just haven't put it on Guess I'd better get to that.

The T/A gives you much needed low-rpm torque, so you can launch at a low rpm. It will definately help. Good luck!

dude 2.0-2.1 60's on street tires and 4.10s is GREAT!!!! The best Ive ever been able to get with my nittos DR's was a 1.9 but im always around 2.0-2.1, so your launch looks ok, give us all your numbers 60/1/8th MPH and 1/4 and MPH. shift as close to redline as you can. Weather plays a BIG part with your times. Just relax and practice. later.

I just got back tonight from the track. I got booted cause you have to have a rollbar to run 13's
Here is my time, it was pretty hot and sunny. Nitto's at 25 psi.

13.80 @ 100.7 -- 2.06

Dang I wish I could run more, it's heavy cause of the vert. and 10" sub in the trunk. But I'm happy. I was hoping for 101 at least.

AND, I hit a 5.0 light and got a free trip back so I can get kicked out again!!!

Also I noticed my ET's are based a lot on how well I do in the 330'. I hit a 2.1 and 6.0sec. 330'----- My better runs I'll hit 2.1 still, but be 5.8sec. in the 330' mark. My car spins a little launching at 2500 then hooks.

I still need advice on getting better 60's too. Its hard cause you can launch at the same RPM, but let off a little/floor it sooner/ clutch out faster/ slower...ect...
