Is my fuel pump shot??

The past 2 days my fuel pump has been acting funny. It is a Walbro 255lph pump. Its starting to whine really loud at idle. It sounds like when you initially turn the key put not all the way its goes "WAAAAAAA" but when i let the car idle it stays like that all the time, that loud and doesnt get quieter. Also when i press on the brake the tone changes. For the past 2 days its been about 90 degrees out. I never let the tank go under 1/4 and i have 1/2 in it now. Ive noticed its been doing it after i go for a long drive about 30mins. Also i can smell gas, i popped the hood and you can smell it heavily on the passenger side of the motor. I checked everything and nothing was wet or leaking. The walbro is only about 9 months old. What could it be, the fuel pump bad? or can a clogged injector do it? The car has 80k miles on it the the pump 7k tops

Took out the car tonight. When i started it up it was very loud again, i went out for about 3 hours. When i came home i couldnt even hear the pump!! Before it was so loud i heard it over the exhaust, now its back to normal. What is wrong with this thing?!?!

I'd get it replaced. The last thing you want it to do is starve your engine at high rpms. Forged pistons or not, they won't last long with no fuel.
