Question New chip for heads and cam?

Would I need to get a chip in order to install my FR heads and SHM cams?

Not to install them, the car will run without it. You will probably have idle issues with the SHM cams unless you get a chip though.

Your gonna want to dyno tune it immediately after the install. Mine ran like A** and I didn't have the cams you will.

I believe the FRPP heads are a "slow-burn" design having little or no swirl dams. That is why the head install kit came with new computers, check out the FRPP catalog. This can be dealt with by having a dyno tune or maybe even a mail order chip if they have them preprogramed for the FRPP heads but then again you are getting cams too, If I was you I would get a dynotune.

the install kits don't come with new computers, only the head gaskets, bolts, etc.....the computer is an extra $270 out of pocket that could almost pay for half the chip and dyno tune......but you are right about the "slow burn" chamber design.......

Yeah, I'll get a Diablo or Autologic chip dyno tuned when I install the heads. Thanks again for the advice.
