I was wondering this too - is there a reason that people are putting smaller tires on the front? That makes it impossible to rotate them at all (since most high performance tires are uni-directional).

The mustang I just bought has 17 x 9 '95 cobra R's w/ 255/45s on the front and 285/40s on the rear. I was thinking of getting 275/45s all around when I have to buy tires next - should I not do this?

Hey there,

At the Stang shop I help out at, when someone wants to still be able to rotate their tires, we often recommend running 265/40/17's all around on stock 17x8's. They fit fine on 17x9's too but you can run 275/40/17's all around as well but they may rub depending how low you have the car. A decent but cheap performance tire is the Kuhmo Ecsta series... their 265/40/17's only cost about 120-140$ a piece and are MUCH better tires than the stock crapyears and are great in rain or dry.

Good luck!
