Best place to buy Bassani O/R X pipe?

Hey all,
Looking to purchase a Bassani Off-road X pipe. Where's the best place to buy one a.k.a. who's the cheapest?

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

If you can't find a good deal on one, BBK's X pipe is identical to Bassani's far as the x shape and it sounds the same as well. There was someone on here selling one for 175.00, I'm happy with mine!

Go and Dyno both of them and see if you still think that they are the same.

I have

Flow doesn't have anything to do with brand names so chill out, I love bassani's x pipe and my friends have it on their cars and even they say there's no difference. Other X pipes like MAC and Dr. Gas are different totally, but the x design of the bassani and bbk is more of a x chamber that actually forces air from both sides together. The others are just joined inside. I've seen them side by side and believe me there is no difference at all for my year except for the way the hangers are. The x shape and how the exhaust enters the x is exactly the same. If you know how they are different, in a way which would affect horsepower I would like to know. Thanks!

I don't know what the difference actually is (flow wise) but, I have see dyno test done between the two and the Bassani ALWAYS made more power! And quite frankly, I could care less as to what brand you, your buddy's, or anyone else you know, runs on their car. So, you chill out!

Alright then, I guess you just chimed in for no apparent reason then! Thanks! Your X Pipe is the best! Feel better now! I've saw dyno tests for both of them as well on a 98GT and they both netted 15 RWHP, like I said if you can backup the difference I will respect it and probably go with it. BTW it was just my opinion.

its just exaust piping, and the look to be the same, so there is no design advantage. the only difference is how each and every different car responds. i say go for the cheaper one!

Not to molest this thread any more but I'd have to agree with nathan and ford. If they are the exact same geometry and are mandrel bent I'd like to know how one gets more power/less pressure drop. I was stuck deciding between the BBK and Bassani for that reason. Keep in mind...the dyno testing are in some part a function of the engine temp. Say brand X pipes were dyno'd when the engine was hot, then Y pipes were dyno'd from a cold engine...you know the rest.

Headers on the other hand make quite a difference. Bassani headers are supposed to be the creme de la creme. They say that the backpressure on each tube is the exact same...which goes with the price. In the big scheme of things this kind of thing would matter to the Schumachers.

OK, you wanted proof here you go. May 2000 issue of 5.0 mag. Page 39 article name "The X-files" 5.0 mag. dyno tested 5 different off-road X pipes against one another and the BBK X and the Bassani X were both tested. As for the HP both the BBK and the Bassani made within 1/2 of a HP of each other so, I will call that a wash. BUT, the Bassani made 15.9 lb-ft MORE TORQUE!!! Here is a direct quote from page 40 on what they had to say about the BBK: "The BBK CNC Premium Series X-pipe is made from aluminized steel and has good overall construction and fit. Though it looks similar to the Bassani pipe and made roughly the same horsepower, it was interesting to note that it was down 16 lb-ft of torque. Just because two pipes look the same doesn't mean they are the same." Now, there is your proof, don't believe me, read it for yourself!

Well hells bells.

Now I'm glad I went with the Bassani's. Sorry to doubt you ALLNTRL. I raise my glass to you. Those guys at Bassani are wizards.

Cheers

Question

Ok well thanks for taking the time to find that, but if the design of both of these pipes is so similar than I still would like to know why such a difference in torque, if this test was accurate it should be able to be explained fairly easy. Although they did get those numbers I still believe something else caused the difference in torque. I'm just basing my opinions on common sense; Same design= Same Advantage HP & Torque. I would love to hear what others think! Oh and I'm sure that if everyone searched long and hard enough they could find some dynos backing up any part or brand, I'm mainly interested in why. Thanks!

Alot of things that happen don't make sense but, that doesn't mean that it can't be true! Also, as far as your idea of "Same design = Same Advantage HP & Torque" Things are not always what they seem. In other words, what appears to you to be the "Same Design" is obviously VERY different! Don't be mad just because you have the BBK X and should have gotten the Bassani. I'm sure you can find someone to pawn that BBK off on.

You really shouldn't believe these magazines all the time, especially MM&FF. My buddy picked up 15rwhp with his o/r bbk X, I doubt the bassani would make more if at all, although the bassani is better quality by far.

I understand your point and I don't believe everything I read but, it was stated that both pipes made equal HP the difference was in the Torque.

Sorry man, but I don't have any sound clips. The XR-1's IMO are the BEST sounding muffler you can put with an X-pipe. They sound BAD ASS!

Based on one dyno from 5.0 Magazine and I'm still waiting on real information on why there is such a difference, I mean besides the fact the Bassanis are "magic" LOL! I think it is much more logical to think that there was a mistake in that particular test and they really do have close to the same performance unless you really do think they are magic! Although now that I think about it, you know where Bassani stamps there name in the pipe, well Bassani has 7 letters in it's name and BBK only has 3 so those extra 4 letters must be retaining more back pressure which would lead to more torque. There you go, I figured it out!!!

I'm not mad at all, in fact I'm glad and very impressed with the pipe also it helps that I saved $125 which will be going to the magnaflow/pack catback!
